CHALLENGE TROPHY BEST OF BREED – The JAMES R. GRAY, M.D. MEMORIAL TROPHY is a sandblasted statue of a whippet, offered by Ann Clippard, through the Metropolitan Atlanta Whippet Association, at its specialty show only. For permanent possession, to be won three (3) times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. Trophy to remain with the Metropolitan Whippet Association until awarded outright. Unless otherwise indicated, all trophies are Ceramic Items with a breed motif, offered by the Metropolitan Atlanta Whippet Association through the General Trophy Fund which has been established and maintained through the generosity of the membership and friends of the Metropolitan Atlanta Whippet Association BEST OF BREED BEST OF WINNERS BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX TO BEST OF BREED WINNERS DOG RESERVE WINNERS DOG WINNERS BITCH RESERVE WINNERS BITCH FIRST IN EACH REGULAR AND NON REGULAR CLASS THE SELECT AWARD Often at large specialty shows, the number of quality dogs in competition far exceeds the number of top awards available. The awarding of a Select Rosette acknowledges that this dog or bitch was under consideration for Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. The Metropolitan Atlanta Whippet Association allows for up to six Select Awards to be presented in addition to Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. The judge may, at her discretion, award all or none of the rosettes. Receiving a Select Award is indeed a significant honor.
