First Afghan woman to gain a study grant to go to France. Wrote an incredible book about her time in France. Kind of book that opens eyes on / to others and one’s own country / book that opens eyes of others’ own country Differences between France and Afghanistan Everything surprised her in France: trains under the ground / lifts, rooms that go up and down French women wear trousers, drive, cycle In Afghanistan haven’t the right/ not allowed / can’t go to the market / shopping without a man. In her country, they respect the aged but in France they put them in old people’s homes, where they die in solitude. In France, only think about earning money, selfish. Even if life beautiful in France, there are more depressed people than in Afghanistan.
