If you have traveled in the last 14 days or had visitors from FMD countries, please do not attend the event. 2. If there are animals at home or on the farm, change into clean clothes and shoes before visiting the fair or other events, and do not wear the same shoes and clothes worn to the event around livestock at home. 3. All exhibitors should bring animals to the fairgrounds in cleaned, disinfected vehicles and trailers. 4. Only the exhibitors and show personnel will be allowed inside the show ring. Animal traffic and spectator traffic will be as separate as possible. 5. Exhibitors should isolate all show animals for 30 days prior to reintroduction to remaining animals on the farm. 6. All animal health regulations of NCDA Veterinary Division will be strictly enforced. 7. If an exhibitor observes any animals with suspicious clinical signs, they should contact their local veterinarian before bringing the animal to an event. General Show Rules & Regulations 1. Exhibitors must be between 5-18 years of age as of January 1, 2006. 2. Youth will be judged on their knowledge of animal production and their familiarity with the type of animal that they are showing. 3. Exhibitors MUST have ownership/possession of the animal to be exhibited on or before September 1, 2006. 4. Classes are divided by exhibitor's age. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry per species, but may compete with multiple species (excluding the poultry show). For instance, a youth may show a beef heifer and a turkey, but not a turkey and a chicken. 5. All animals will be checked-in on October 7, between 1 PM and 2 PM at the lower arena at the Halifax County 4-H Horse/Livestock Complex on Hwy 903. All animals will be released following the completion of the entire show. *6. Major fitting should be done prior to arrival at Harvest Days. No wash facilities are available. No animal pens or cages will be provided. 7. All animals must be trained and tame. No wild animals allowed on fairgrounds. 8. Each youth must be able to handle their animal in the show ring. No adults are allowed to lead animals in the ring. 9. Closing date for entries shall be September 29, 2006. Entries include social security number and $5.00 entry fee per exhibitor. Entry forms must be completely filled out. Each entry must have approval and signature of county 4-H agent, livestock agent, or high school Vo-Ag teacher in the participant's home county. Entries must be mailed to NC Cooperative Extension, ATTN: Halley Deihl--Halifax County Livestock Agent, P.O. Box 37, Halifax, NC 27839, phone: (252) 583-5161, and postmarked no later than September 29, 2006. 10. Exhibitors are solely responsible for feed and care of animals during Harvest Days. Each exhibitor assumes all liabilities in case of sickness, death, or injury to his/her animals. The management, exhibitors, sponsors, and owners assume no liability for injury from any case to individuals or property. (There is no policy for compensation to loss of any animal on the farm.) 11. In cases where questions arise that are not specifically covered by these rules, decisions of the show committee are final. 12. All decisions made by the judge will be final. 13. Animals must be in good condition and free of disease. Any animal appearing unhealthy will be barred from show and show grounds. 14. All animals exhibited must meet NC Health requirements. Exhibitors are responsible for obtaining health papers and should have them available for inspection at check-in (health papers obtained for the NC State Fair will be accepted). 15. All participants will be awarded ribbons. Premiums will be mailed following the completion of the show. 16. ANY ANIMAL DEEMED SUSPECT OF CARRYING A TRANSMITTABLE DISEASE PROBLEM WILL BE EXCUSED FROM THE SHOW. Junior Market Lamb Show Rules & Regulations 1. Lambs shown must be ewes or wethers; no rams will be allowed to show. 2. All lambs will be subject to mouthing when checked-in and must have all temporary (baby) teeth in place at time of show. 3. Classes will be determined by exhibitor's age. Novice Class: 5 years to 8 years. Junior Class: 9 years to 13 years. Senior Class: 14 years to 18 years. 4. All lambs must have an ear tag or tattoo number. In addition, all lambs must have a scrapie tag. There is a minimum of 9 years of age to show, however, each youth must be able to handle their animal in the show ring or be dismissed from the ring. No adults may lead animals in the ring. Heifers must be handled and halter broke by participant at least one month prior to show date. Unruly animals which endanger the safety of others will be asked to leave the ring. 2. All heifers must have an ear tag or tattoo number. 3. Heifers will be shown at halter. Entries will be divided by exhibitor's age. Junior Class: 9 years to 11 years. Intermediate Class: 12 years to 14 years. Senior Class: 15 years to 18 years. 4. Heifers must be born after November 1, 2004 to be eligible to show. All goats will be subject to mouthing when unloaded. All animals must have all temporary teeth in place at the time of the show. 4. All horn tips must be dulled and/or blunt. 5. Classes will be determined based on exhibitor's age. Novice Class: 5 years to 8 years. Junior Class: 9 years to 13 years. Senior Class: 14 years to 18 years. All poultry exhibited at the Halifax Harvest Days Youth Livestock Show shall have been in the possession of the exhibitor for sixty days or more prior to the date of Harvest Days. 2. Poultry shown must be either a chicken or a turkey; no waterfowl or other species of bird will be allowed to show. 3. All chickens for exhibition at Harvest Days will originate from U.S. PullorumTyphoid Clean or equivalent flocks or have a negative pullorum-typhoid test within 90 days of admission to Harvest Days, or the test requirements may be satisfied by a negative test conducted by an official state tester at the time the birds are brought to Harvest Days. 4. All turkeys must have been hatched on or after May 20, 2006, to be shown. 5. No poultry shall have received a live virus vaccine within 30 days prior to entering the Fair. 6. All birds must be identified with tamper-proof bands. Bands placed on birds tested at Harvest Days by state testers will satisfy this requirement. 7. Poultry entered at Harvest Days are subject to examination (including blood test and swabs) by a representative of the N. C. Department of Agriculture. Birds will not be accepted which are infected with, or showing any clinical signs of, an infectious or communicable disease, or are infested with lice and/or mites. 8. Classes will be determined by exhibitor's age. Novice Class: 5 years to 8 years. Junior Class: 9 years to 13 years. Senior Class: 14 years to 18 years.
