Welcome and introductions B. EMRA Business Updates a. Meeting structure for ACEP15 i. EMRA will reserve room(s) over the course of several days, and committee & division leaders will be able to sign up for a time slot that best fits their needs. We will be planning to schedule our meeting in conjunction with the ACEP critical care medicine section b. Committee & Division Logos: i. EMRA will work with each committee & division to design a logo/web banner that will be used to promote the group on the EMRA website, in the newsletter, to other organizations via web banner swaps, etc. 1. EKG tracing, similar to ACEP to align with sister organization c. EM Resident articles: Committed to (2) per year at minimum d. Authors: 1. Article 1 – (due by August 1) 2. Article 2 – (due by January 1) a. Our group has consistently written in this magazine and our goal is to have at minimum one article per edition. We have created a topic list and anyone interested is welcome to sign up to write articles on these topics to submit to the magazine. You must have a faculty mentor to help with your article and we can help find you one if needed e. EMRA Match i. Our group has updated lists on all four critical care pathways (all programs currently accepting EM applicants); these should be uploaded on EMRA’s website soon ii. Each EMRA committee/division will update this information, fellowship information with map of fellowship locations with pin iii. Information we need for critical care fellowships: 1. Which track: neuro, medicine, surgery, neuro (color coded on map?) 2. ACGME certified, board eligibility (especially with surgery) 3. Accept ERAS or not iv. Application cycle coming up in July 2015 to start July 2016 v. Need addresses for each fellowship to be added to EMRA Match f. EMRA EMIG Campaign i. EMRA is launching a new campaign to EMIGs in the 2015-2016 academic year. Each EMIG president will receive a kit including: 1. Sample EMRA Member Kit 2. “Why EM/Why EMRA” Brochures (includes a detailed timeline of important dates/checklist for MSI – MSIV) 3. Flash drives containing videos on Emergency Medicine & EMRA involvement, plus a PPT presentation 4. Our group is taking the lead currently to create a powerpoint presentation to discuss fellowship opportunities available to the EM physician a. This is a collaborative project working with medical students and other EMRA divisions/committees b. Current fellowships to be discussed: critical care, sports medicine, simulation, toxicology, pediatric EM, wilderness medicine, EMS, ultrasound c. Goal would be to try and disseminate to EMIGS and also potentially to EMRA program representatives C. Review of Recent Activities a. Pressordex i. 2nd edition released at ACEP 2015 ii. Current goal is revisions to be made every 3 years 1. Residents/students can be involved with new updates every 3 years b. EMF Resident Critical Care Research Grant i. $5,000 resident award provided each year to 2 EM residents ii. Grants should be announced in June 2015 c. Awaiting Publication of Survey about resident interest in critical care i. 600 residents responded, 49% interested in critical care ii. such a high amount of interest reinforces importance and impact of critical care! d. Fellowship Mentorship program i. Currently run by EM-CCM virtual mentor website e. Education Committee’s Lecture competition “20 in 6” i. Set to unveil at ACEP 15 ii. In 6 minutes you get 20 slides to present a topic, would love to have someone from critical care to represent us f. Critical Care Track i. Article in EM Res; currently listed on our website ii. Consider starting a track in your residency!, questions contact jenelle.holst@gmail.com D. Projects with ongoing work a. Liaisons i. Social media Liaison 1. Ongoing: facebook critical care alerts a. Currently organized by residents @ NYU, recruiting for next year’s class b. Set up a way to send it directly to EMresident.org to directly post them 2. Twitter: use #EMRACritCare 3. Still recruiting social media liaison->email if interested a. Division members signed up for this, contact us if interested ii. Research Liaison Project: Collection of top CC articles 1. Near completion, should be uploaded soon a. Searchable by organ system, disease, year (latest), on EMRA website b. Member Proposals for format, etc: i. Ranking system of articles? For feedback of relevance of articles ii. Point v counter point system to explore pros and cons of articles by experts in the field on major landmark articles iii. Long list of articles vs select subset (3-5 articles per topic) iv. Research committee came up with landmark articles list, opportunity for collaboration v. Want to keep it web based to be updatable, want to keep curating it to keep standard number of articles, EMresident.org vi. Would like it listed through journal article manager program for ease of download through university proxy vii. Opportunity for youtube, podcast, critical alert to use for dissemination of information or posting a new article iii. Database Liaison 1. Fellowship electronic guidebook i. Submitted to the EMRA board, awaiting approval ii. Collaborative project with CORD 1. Comprehensive guide, electronic to be updated every year 2. Can email out information about internal medicine (pilot chapter) now to crit care division members 3. Standard price for entire fellowship guide book $5? 4. Help to create by each corresponding EMRA division, however there are more fellowships than divisions 5. Updated information about each fellowship on EMRA match c. EM-Fellow list-serv i. Goal is to link incoming, current and outgoing EM trained CCM fellows 1. Google group launch this week d. Medical Student Boot Camp i. Collaborative project with multiple different committee/divisions 1. Medical student day, all EMRA divisions on board. Multiple different stations sponsored by each EMRA division, ex: simulations lectures, vendors/US 2. Critical care rotation/booth: simulation, procedures 3. Goal to be done at ACEP 2016 E. Future Projects a. Fellowship elective database i. For EM residencies that do not have ICU electives at their home institutions, need to arrange an away rotation ii. Maybe more of a set of guidelines of “how to” arrange an away elective b. Monthly Critical Care Alert c. Panel ideas for ACEP: recently matched fellows; hot topic panel; critical care experts discussing management of different critically ill patients i. Panel ideas: 1. How to navigate career selection after fellowship, private vs academic, 50/50% EM/CCM split, just in the ED or just in the ICU 2. How you should decide on a fellowship (for medical students) d. Webinars? i. Would like to do another one this year, information for the fellowship applicant (information about different anesthesia, surgical, neuro medical tracks, LOR, application content and preparation, timeline) F.
