6 DAYS/ 5 NIGHTS TRANSYLVANIAN FORTRESSES AND CASTLES TOUR
1. DAY
For guest who want to travel from Germany, you will fly from Frankfurt-Hahn to Budapest, than
change and fly towards Neumarkt *(Marosvásárhely) where you will be welcomed by HERR TRAVEL
tourist guides. Transfer with bus to Sovata to your accommodation: the guesthouse of the world
famous table tennis champion family FEJÉR KONNERT In the afternoon, we are going to take you
out for a walk in the spa town Sowata then dinner.
2. DAY
Breakfast and presentation of your Transylvanian tour. Today we will visit with bus some of
Transylvania’s most interesting castles, the first castle which is the castle of Bonchida. Second castle
Egeres, and presentation of the magnificent Hungarian folk region of Kalotaszeg situated in Cluj
county. We are going to prepare for you an original Transylvanian meal for you next to campfire.
3. DAY
After breakfast you will have free time to enjoy, we can organize you bathing in Europe’s biggest
heliotherm *(salty lake heated by the sun), after lunch we will take you to the nearby Salt Mine of
Parajd (Praid) where you will receive a brief information about the salt mining technologies of the last
1000 year, the mine is a health therapeutical center for those who suffer from various respiratory
problems. Korond, the capital of the Szekler Hungarian pottery will be our next stop, where you can
assist the production phases of a local handicraft master, you will have the possibility to buy
handmade products as souvenir. After this afternoon trip we will go back to Sovata where Szekely
Hugarian folk dancers and musicians will welcome you. We will make a big campfire and drink some
good wine.
4. DAY
Today morning we will travel to Weissenburg *(Gyulafehérvár, Alba Iulia) an interesting sight seeing
tour in the fortress, we will visit the Roman Catholic Cathedral which was founded 1000 years ago,
the tour of the cathedral and the Cardinal’s Palace will be presented by one of the oldest priest, father
Ferenc LESTYAN. In the program we have included the Saxon German Evangelical Church from
Mühlbach (Sebes) and the fortress of Eisenmarkt *(Vajdahunyad). After our tour we will return to our
home and we will enjoy a concert presented by Amnesia (guitar and violin).
5. DAY
Fifth day morning we will visit the Saxon German fortified town of Schässburg *(Sighisoara) and
Birthälm*(Birtan, Berethalom) the Bishops’s Residence of the Saxon German Evangelical Church, a
magnificent fortified Cathedral part of the UNESCO World Site Heritage. We will visit Meschen a
small Saxon German village with a beautiful church, this village is under the protection of the Mihai
Eminescu Trust, lead by His Royal Highness Prince Charles from the United Kingdom. We will have
our supper in Hermannstadt *(Nagyszeben, Sibiu) which will be the cultural capital of Europe in 2007.
6. DAY
Breakfast and checking out from the Fejer Konnert Guesthouse from Sowata. Transfer back to the
Targu Mures/Neumarkt airport. Farewell.
