BIOGRAPHY
Alan Weinstein is currently a consultant working with healthcare companies. He also is a
board member of a number of health services companies offering outsourced services to
hospitals and medical groups. He is the retired President of Premier, Inc., a strategic
alliance of over 1,500 hospitals and health systems in the United States. Mr. Weinstein left
Premier, Inc. in 2000 after merging his previous company, Premier Health Alliance, with
AmHS and SunHealth in 1995. During his tenure at Premier the member hospitals were
group purchasing $12 billion annually in goods and services negotiated by Premier on their
behalf. The alliance also provided its members with broad-based services including
management engineering consultation, benchmarking and informatics products, technology
assessment, insurance programs and biomedical engineering.
From 1983 to 1995, Mr. Weinstein was CEO and President of Premier Health Alliance, a
strategic alliance owned by 54 teaching hospitals located throughout the country. During
his three-decade career in healthcare, Mr. Weinstein focused on developing startup
businesses providing services to hospitals through shared programs intended to achieve
greater economies of scale. Mr. Weinstein also currently serves on the board of the
American International Health Alliance and the National Advisory Committee for the RWJ
Executive Nurse Fellows Program. . Mr. Weinstein has a BA from Allegheny College, in
Meadville, PA and a MBA from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
