People credited with this unit standard are able to identify obsolete automotive parts, select obsolete automotive parts and carry out the disposal requirements. Explanatory notes 1 The following legislation and their amendments are required to be consulted and followed where applicable: – Carriage of Goods Act, 1979 – Resource Management Act, 1991 – Local Body Regulations. 2 Because of the particular nature of this unit standard, it is essential that the practical assessment evidence is obtained from commercial jobs in the workplace under normal workplace conditions. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify obsolete automotive parts. Evidence requirements 1.1 The company's stock holding policy is identified. Range 1.3 stock movement record, stock turn calculations, supercessions, reasons for slow moving stock. A report of future automotive stock requirements is completed. Range 1.5 percentage write down systems, final write off, clearance sales, destroying stock, dumping stock, gifting, gaining authorisation. An analysis of existing automotive stock movement is recorded. Range 1.4 3383 version 4 Page 2 of 3 storage and stock costs, current trading trends, company trading forecast report. Obsolete automotive stock is identified from a stock movement analysis and report in accordance with the company's stock holding policy. Outcome 2 Select obsolete automotive parts and carry out the disposal requirements. Evidence requirements 2.1 Company permission to dispose of obsolete automotive parts is obtained. 2.2 Automotive stock items to be disposed of are listed on a report form for company recording purposes. 2.3 The disposal method is determined based on type, condition and usefulness of the items, and legal requirements. 2.4 The automotive parts are disposed of with due regard to legislation, and the relevant documentation is completed. 2.5 Automotive stock records are up-dated to reflect the stock removal. 2.6 The book value of the disposed automotive parts is reported to management for accounting and tax purposes. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
