Sharnice A. Jones
Sharnice Jones is a multi-talented, award-winning author, entrepreneur and
student, currently attends Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. She holds
the distinguished honor of Drew University Civic Scholar recognizing her
ongoing dedication to providing service to the university campus as well as to the
community at large. Miss Jones is a remarkable young woman, who has already
earned dozens of state, community, and school awards and scholarships in
recognition of her leadership qualities, community service as well as her many
talents as an author and performer (singer, actor and speaker).
Miss Jones graduated from the Allied Health & Medical Science Program at Gloucester County Institute of
Technology, during which time she was actively involved in school academic and extra-curricular activities,
while also devoting much of her time and talent to community service. Miss Jones began volunteering at the
tender age of 9. She spent countless hours providing direct volunteer assistance, live musical performances,
and fundraising support for local charities and facilities servicing diverse populations including the homeless,
sick children and their families, and the elderly. Miss Jones has received multiple accolades from local
nonprofit leaders for her “commitment” and “concern” for the community, her “talents” and “dedication to
excellence”, and her effectiveness serving as a role model for young girls in the community.
While in her senior year of high school, Miss Jones also authored a book, entitled “Success Before Sex”,
based on her award-winning essay of the same name. This book, available on Amazon.com, targets young
girls, helping them understand the risks of engaging in sexual activity and helping them prevent potentially
devastating consequences their choices can have on their future success. As an outgrowth of this book, Miss
Jones recently started a unique non-profit corporation, Success 1st, Inc., which expands the scope of her
efforts to include all youth, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. This organization provides a forum that
encourages teenagers to get involved in discussions with their peers, and receive valuable information and
insights to help improve the likelihood of their making safe, smart choices and successfully realizing their
goals and aspirations. 100% of the profits from sale of this book will be used to fund Success 1st, Inc., a nonprofit project designed to transform the lives of teenagers by encouraging them to focus on their goals and not
the distractions that can easily derail their dreams!
Miss Jones has addressed several school, community and church youth groups, sharing her own journey to
self-understanding and creating a safe, open environment for candid discussions on the many pressures facing
youth today. She engages youth audiences with her winning smile, transparent passion and integrity, and
relates to them as a peer. Through speaking engagements, as well as through her book and the youth
presenters that volunteer for her non-profit organization, Miss Jones’s mission is to reach as many of her
peers as is possible, facilitating paths to future success.
