Purpose: To update the registrant’s knowledge and use of current “best practices” relating to
women’s health.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to improve patient outcomes by
being able to:
 describe a simulation program for obstetricians to expose them to appropriate treatment
method s for uncommon but important obstetrical emergencies.
 review the risks and benefits of today’s IUD’s
 describe the pros and cons of acupuncture for treatment of OB/GYN patients
 describe the current concepts as to the etiology and management of the pre-eclampsia/
eclampsia syndrome
 illustrate the concept of the “Near-Term Premature” newborn and its prevention
 report the latest information as to the acceptance and successful use of Gardasil
immunization
 describe recent concepts as to prevention and treatment of preterm labor
 review current “best practices” in the management of women with the chronic pelvic pain
syndrome
 describe the use of pharmacologic agents in the management of women with urinary
incontinence
 evaluate modern approaches to the polycystic ovarian syndrome
