SOLVE Program Coordinator
Community Programs Manager
45-55 K DOE; Full benefits package (includes medical, dental, vision,

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Community Programs Manager, the SOLVE Program Manager is
responsible for the oversight and development of the SOLVE Program with the Mental Health
Association of San Francisco (MHASF). SOLVE (Sharing Our Lives: Voices and Experiences) is a
stigma elimination program that utilizes peer educators to reduce social barriers that prevent mental
health treatment by sharing personal experiences with mental illness. The SOLVE Speakers Bureau
consists of an array of San Franciscans who have first-hand experience with mental illness and share
their stories of struggle, hope and triumph with the community. In the past year, over 50 SOLVE
presentations have been given to a wide range of community groups, reaching almost 1,000 San
Franciscans.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Conduct outreach for SOLVE Program, including arranging presentations across San Francisco
to nonprofits, corporations, schools, churches, and other community groups.
 Facilitate all SOLVE presentations in the community.
 Recruit and screen prospective SOLVE speakers.
 Support SOLVE speakers before, during, and after presentations.
 Facilitate quarterly trainings for new SOLVE speakers as well as coordinate a monthly support
group for SOLVE speakers.
 Assist with marketing of SOLVE Program and, in partnership with Community Programs
Manager, continue development of media strategy for program.
 Develop program related communications for presentations, print and website.
 Assemble data on results, submit monthly internal reports, and write reports to funders.
 Other duties as assigned by Community Programs Manager, Associate Director, and Executive
Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Lived experience with mental health conditions strongly preferred.
 Excellent written skills and public speaking/meeting facilitation skills.
 Volunteer management experience required.
 Experience coordinating projects, events and trainings.
 Deep familiarity with mental health resources and programs and the San Francisco non-profit
community.
 Excellent understanding of mental illness diagnoses, symptoms, and impact of stigma on
consumers.
 Familiarity with quality assurance/improvement processes and practices.
 Commitment to consumer empowerment, culturally competent services, and nonjudgmental
approach.

Highly organized and resourceful, excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and manage
time well to accomplish all key tasks and deadlines.
Excellent computer skills including internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Collaborative team working style with ability to relate effectively with people from diverse
backgrounds.
Commitment to the mission, vision and values of MHASF
Undergraduate degree required, masters preferred. (Two years relevant experience in
developing/coordinating stigma reduction programs can be substituted for undergraduate
degree.)
Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese preferred.
