M. / Schalksmühle. Constructional fire protection is one of the most important factors in building practice. The aim of preventive fire protection is to prevent the occurrence and spreading of smoke and fire in order to save lives and minimise property damage. The relevant standards and sets of regulations affect not only new building but also refurbishing in existing buildings. Electrical installations are a potential weak spot if, for example, missing or incorrectly fitted sealings for electrical cables and conduits allow smoke and fire to spread. With regard to fire resistance classes according to DIN 4102 or EN 1364, fire-protection walls represent especially complex challenges for the electrical trade. In this case, electrical installations must be carried out with extra care in order to ensure fire and smoke safety. Not only in new buildings, but also for the modernising of existing buildings, practice-oriented and economical measures are needed in order to satisfy the fire protection requirements and at the same time to minimise the amount of work involved. Box sealing range of products extended to meet needs page 1/5 Person responsible: Norbert Gornik Head of Marketing Contact: Anne Kellner Marketing ·Communication Phone: +49(0)2355 / 809-130 pr@kaiser-elektro.de As specialists in electrical installations in fire-protection walls and ceilings, at the "Light+Building 2012" trade fair KAISER GmbH & Co. KAISER GmbH & Co. KG Ramsloh 4 D-58579 Schalksmühle KG presented innovative and reliable systems which ensure the necessary fire resistance classes if a fire breaks out. With a new product for the trade fair, KAISER has added a 120 mm diameter box sealing to its product range of feed-throughs in cavity walls, masonry and concrete. The "System DS 90 / 120 mm“ covers an expanded range of applications in fire protection. It is based on the innovative technology used for the "DS 90" box sealing system, which has Europe-wide approval. The increased diameter allows the fitter to feed through a larger number of cables and electrical installation conduits, and also larger cross-sections. In addition, the new system allows mixed population of conduits and cables as full population. With European Technical Approval, issued in autumn 2011 by the German Institute of Building Technology for sealing systems "LS 90", "RS 90" and "DS 90/74 mm", professional use for electrical installations in fire-protection walls is officially confirmed. The approval (ETA-11/0188) was issued on the basis of the fire tests passed in accordance with DIN EN 1366-3. This means that these sealings can be used in solid masonry walls according to DIN 1053, in concrete walls according to DIN 1045, and in drywalls according to DIN EN 1364-1. The ETA approval can be downloaded from our website at www.kaiser-elektro.de. KAISER's fire sealings allow fast, flexible and secure sealing, maintain the wall's fire resistance class, and automatically seal joints and gaps between cables. They give the electrical trade professional products which allow fire-protection-safe electrical installation using existing tools and without filling and smoothing or even the application of a fire-protection coating to cables and conduits. The cable, conduit and box sealings can also be retrofitted over existing cables and conduits. In each case, up to three sealings can be arranged as a group. An additional special feature of KAISER's box sealings is the possibility of the later non-destructive fitting of additional cables in all wall types. For later non-destructive fitting, first open the sealing element, and additional cables can then be fed through. After this, the page 2/5 Phone: +49(0)23 55 / 8 09-0 Fax: +49(0)23 55 / 8 09-21 info@kaiser-elektro.de www.kaiser-elektro.de Reproduction free – voucher copy requested box sealing can be closed again without additional sealing. It maintains the fire-resistance class and creates additional installation space for electronic switch devices, network and communications technology, and also cables and terminals. It allows population with up to 4 cables and also with a maximum of four installation conduits up to M25. An additional space for electronic components such as KNX actuators, relays, radio modules and communication technology products creates a wide range of applications. The new electronics box is based on the tried-andtested "HWD 90“ cavity wall box. It is also suitable for later installation and, if required, can also be used as a double box. All fire sealings and fire-protection boxes are equipped with so-called "AFS technology“. "AFS“ stands for "Active Fire Stop“, and it designates a surrounding fire-retardant coating which intumesces extremely quickly if a fire breaks out and automatically closes the installation openings. This technology ensures that fire-resistance classes up to EI90 or F90 are maintained, which reliably prevents the spreading of smoke and fire. It is also easy to replace existing traditional installation boxes, or to expand existing installation boxes to create multiple combinations. KAISER has developed the "Centering insert 68/74“ for this purpose, and it easily and quickly expands the installation openings from 68 mm to 74 mm without damaging the surface of the wall. The robust centering insert is especially designed for installation work in single and multi-layer boarded lightweight walls. page 3/5 Reproduction free – voucher copy requested KAISER GmbH & Co.
