The ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) Project is an integral part of the European plan to build the
next generation of large research facilities. ELI-Beamlines is a cutting-edge laser facility that is
currently being constructed in Dolní Břežany (on the southern border of Prague), Czech Republic;
its commissioning is scheduled for end of 2017. ELI will deliver ultrashort, ultra-intense laser
pulses lasting typically a few tens of femtoseconds with an un-precedent combination of high
intensity and repetition rate. It will make available a unique combination of synchronized beams
from the primary lasers and secondary sources for a wide range of interdisciplinary applications in
physics, chemistry, medicine, biology and material science.
We are searching for an experienced optical engineer. You will join the beam transport group. This
team is developing and implementing the Beamlines from the laser output to the focusing
element of the experimental chambers. It includes the beam transport itself (within vacuum), the
alignment system and the end-line laser diagnostics. The main task will be about implementation
of the beam transport and diagnostics setups, and also about prototyping and testing of the
different optical systems.

We are searching for an experienced optical engineer with the following qualifications, skills and
experience:
 PhD in Physics, Physics Engineering, or Electrical engineering with specialisation in
Optics/Photonics; or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering.
 5 years of professional experience in Optics/Photonics
 Fluent in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory. Knowledge of Czech, French or
Italian languages is a plus (but not mandatory).
 Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
o Ultrafast laser metrology
o Imaging systems
o Non-linear optics
o Knowledge in Labview, ZEMax.
