3D Ecosystem Project
For the ecosystem you have chosen, construct a food web within the following guidelines. You will need to do
some research as homework this week on your assigned ecosystem to decide what food web you will focus on.
Sketch of Idea (brainstorming):
1.
Label each organism with its name, and whether it is a producer or consumer (primary, secondary, etc.). Each consumer
must be labeled as an herbivore, carnivore, omnivore.
2.
Remember, a food web contains many food chains; make sure your consumers have a variety of food to eat.
3.
Begin constructing your food web by placing the producers at the bottom and then adding 1 st, 2nd and 3rd level consumers.
4.
You must include at least 3 food chains, each consisting of a producer, a primary consumer, and a secondary consumer. They
must be realistic feeding relationships!
5.
Draw all the connections within your web neatly with arrow pointing to where the energy is going.
Final Product:
1) Construct a 3D ecosystem, including the food webs
2) Make sure to label the producers and consumers (Produce, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore.)
3) Include arrows to show feeding order.
You can create your project using any materials you choose.
Grading:
The rubric is on the back of this sheet. It MUST be included with your project so that I can assign you a grade.

the food web.
The project is
attractive in
terms of design,
layout and
neatness.
The project is
acceptable
attractive though
it may be a bit
messy.
All organisms are
labeled as
producer or
consumer. Most
consumers are
labeled as a
herbivore,
carnivore,
omnivore, or
decomposer.
The food web
accurately
displays the
feeding

within the
ecosystems but
one feeding
relationship may
be inaccurate.
All organisms are
labeled as
producer or
consumer.
The project is
distractingly
messy or very
poorly designed.
It is not
attractive.
Few to no labels
were present on
the food web.
The food web
accurately
displays the
feeding
relationships
within the
ecosystem but
several feeding

The food web
does not
accurately
display the

within the
ecosystem.
