New Spirituality Book Offers Native American Wisdom
Author and Native American studies professor Lynda M. Means pens new book exploring
ancient culture
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – In her new book The Last Red Stick Warrior? By Ghost Dancer (published by
AuthorHouse), Lynda M. Means, Ph.D., explores the centuries of cultural traditions surrounding the
ancient way of life associated with Red Stick warriors.
Means describes the book as a guide for readers searching for a way to connect with themselves and
their purpose in life. She identifies the key to connecting to oneself as realizing their connection to
everything in existence throughout time – past, present and future. She says that when a person
realizes this, they will “… truly become one with all that is.”
An excerpt from The Last Red Stick Warrior? By Ghost Dancer:
Every single person had a purpose and was guided and helped to ensure that they
achieved their specific purpose. Some children were selected for their memories, to
start training to be historians. Some were selected to be artists or sculptors. Some
were chosen for musicians, actors. Some were chosen for their ability to be leaders. As
a child was born, he was watched by all to see the character and nature of the child.
Each child demonstrated as it grew its natural abilities and interests. These were
respected and promoted by the Clan Mothers to insure each child would receive the
best training and teachers in that particular area.
Means felt compelled to deliver The Last Red Stick Warrior? By Ghost Dancer because she had
become disenchanted by the sources of information available about Native Americans and First
Nations people. She felt responsible for presenting the information she had obtained in her
experience as a scholar and historian in the field of Native American studies.
“No matter where you are, or when, we all have struggles, monsters, demons, fears, doubts, and
questions about ourselves,” says Means. “And everything we have been taught doesn't add up and
leaves us looking for answers. Today’s society is truly searching for these answers.”
