ArtCenter/South Florida w w w . a r t c e n t e r s f . o r g JURIED ARTIST APPLICATION DEADLINES APRIL 1ST & SEPTEMBER 1ST ANNUALLY ArtCenter South/Florida, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1985, advances the knowledge and practice of contemporary visual arts and culture in South Florida. ArtCenter exists to provide affordable workspace on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach for outstanding visual artists in all stages of career development. ArtCenter provides access to resource and support, creates opportunities for experimentation and innovation, and encourages the exchange of ideas across cultures and professional disciplines. ArtCenter serves the diverse residents and visitors of South Florida through open studios, exhibitions, and education. Applications are reviewed bi-annually. A panel of four jurors comprised of arts professionals and artists evaluate applications. ArtCenter Juried Artist status and its benefits are valid for a term of three years from the date of the jury selection. Juried terms are renewable once, for a total of six years. Those artists who wish to be considered for senior resident status may do so after completing their six-year residency. If selected as a Senior Resident, those artists will be eligible for one to three more years. Artists who have ArtCenter studios are required to be present in their studios a minimum of 30 hours per week and need to be present during exhibition openings or events. ArtCenter Juried Artists are required to volunteer 10 hours a month to the ArtCenter’s programs. ArtCenter/South Florida offers: LOW COST STUDIOS Art Center houses 46 subsidized workspaces appropriate for visual artists of all genres. Our studios range from 167 to 572 square feet. Studio rents are currently charged at $9.00 per square foot, on an annual basis. Additional charges are a common area fee, a $5.00 Wi-Fi fee, an energy surcharge, a $200 annual fee, and 7% sales tax. All terms of the lease will be carefully explained to you at the time of the lease signing. COOPERATIVE FACILITIES Photography and printmaking facilities are available to all juried artists TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES ArtCenter offers all juried artists teaching opportunities in its ArtStudies Program, a community arts education program for people of all ages, as well as in its ArtAdventures and ArtCamp for children. EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES ArtCenter’s 800 Lincoln Road Gallery offers artists, curators, and educators opportunities to present exhibition proposals to the ArtCenter’s Exhibition Committee comprised of arts professionals and artists. The primary criteria for selection are conceptual innovation and technical proficiency, as evident in your visual documentation. (2) How will you become a productive member of ArtCenter’s artistic community? 3. A resume or Curriculum Vitae including artistic and professional experience. 4. A CD with 10-15 images saved in jpeg format or a clear plastic 8 ½” x 11” slide loading sheet including maximum 10 – 35mm slides. The artist’s name and work title must be clearly noted on each slide or on each file name. If your work is more suitable presented in video format, you may provide a brief presentation of your work on a DVD. 5. A one-page information sheet about the submitted material, which includes: title of each work, media, dimensions and date executed. 6. Application processing fee of $40.00, check or money order, payable to: ArtCenter/South Florida, which includes postage and handling for the return of your slides and materials. The processing fee is non-refundable, regardless of outcome.
