The year is 1933 and the Great Depression has hit Canadians hard. Many
people often reminisce about the booming ‘20s. You are the editor of the Galt
Reporter. You have decided to design a special edition newspaper which will
reflect on the good times of the 1920s. This edition will also contain a section to
keep Canadians up to date with the Depression. Your goal is to take the focus
off the Depression so be detailed and creative!
Format Requirements:

a pre-designed template. Your newspaper should be no less than 4 pages.

appropriate news article format. Each article needs a catchy heading.
Illustrations are required throughout to compliment the content. These
illustrations do not have to be hand drawn. You must include a bibliography in
proper format at the end of your newspaper listing the sources you used to
obtain information. You may only use 3 internet sources for information and
they must be .edu, .gov or .org (Wikipedia is NOT acceptable.) You may use
unlimited internet sources for illustrations only. .ca websites must be teacher

special edition

1920s (ie: the Persons Case, the Byng King Crisis….)

sports figure)

Your Depression section must contain:
 An article discussing the background causes of the Great Depression.
You must also decide which background cause had the most impact on
bringing this depression. Provide evidence to support your opinion
 2 personal stories. For each story, you must choose a specific Canadian:
a single mother, an unemployed single male, a factory worker, a farmer,
a father or an immigrant to role play. Your story should describe the
conditions that particular person was facing during the Depression.
 1 advertisement promoting a proposed solution to the Depression. You
