Press Release 2010-129 Cargobull Telematics TrailerConnect® creates more room for manoeuvre - Premiere at the IAA: TrailerConnect® with electronic temperature recorder - More than 2,000 trailer telematics systems sold since launching the 2nd generation in February 2010 - The compact design, modularity and the reduced costs for the hardware and services have attracted a great deal of interest Horstmar, September 2010 – The TrailerConnect® brand system package is now setting new standards. TrailerConnect® presents a premiere at the IAA, the world's largest commercial vehicle exhibition: For the first time, the TrailerConnect® will be presented with a prototype of an electronic temperature recorder. For this purpose, TrailerConnect® has been expanded to include a LIN bus component. This enables the connection of up to four analogue temperature sensors. The entire system is certified to the latest EU standards. Integrating the temperature recorder into the system enables the data to be read out at any time and transmitted to an Internet database via GSM. The advantage lies in the fact that one can forgo conventional temperature recorders while also having a comprehensive range of telematics functions on board. Up until now trailers always required both components – temperature recorders and telematics hardware. Cargobull Telematics use GSM and GPS technologies. As one of the first providers in the telematics sector, Cargobull Telematics does not use the usual Plug-In SIM card any more, opting instead for a SIM on Chip - a chip that has been soldered to the circuit board. This ensures quality and functionality. A new type of GPS technology – High Sensitivity GPS – makes it possible to avoid external antennas and integrate them into the control unit instead. This allows the control unit to be installed under the vehicle and receive the satellite signals being reflected from the ground via the integrated GPS aerial used for positioning. 2010-129 For the development of their new sensors Cargobull Telematics has used LIN-BUS technology. This type of network facilitates the flexible integration of additional sensors if requested by the customer. As such, the new trailer telematics in this network is fitted with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery for autonomous power supply, a LIN coupling sensor and also a LIN door sensor. All components are fitted ex-factory or are also available for retrofitting. The new technology allows for new services to be introduced. Whilst the tried and tested service packages "Position", "Trailer-Info" and "Temperature", as well as the familiar optional features "digital map" and safety and activation of sub-users are still available, new innovative reports have now been added to the product range. The new Management Report informs the owner about the use and utilisation of their fleet within the individually selected report period. This enables quicker insight into fleet management and swift decisions can be made to increase economic efficiency. A new vehicle report has also been created concerning dispatch. With a single glance this provides detailed information about the daily utilisation of individual trailers as well as their behaviour with regard to the route, loading, unloading and events that occurred during the day. Both new reports are ready to use and can be called up from the portal without further instructions or the need for previous special configurations. It couldn't be easier! So you'll have more room for manoeuvre for all those other important things. Cargobull Telematics carries out data integration projects for an increasing number of customers. The larger the fleets, the greater the likelihood that it will be necessary to integrate the trailer telematics information into the individual logistics software, in order to match it up with freight orders. Cargobull Telematics offers project consultation and support for this. As such, trailer telematics completes the chain of information for the customer. Along with the new technology and the new services, a new product name has also been introduced: TrailerConnect® is the new registered brand of Cargobull Telematics. 2010-129 It describes the hardware including the infrastructure as well as the service packages. These are: For all vehicle types "TrailerConnect® Position" - 15 minute reporting frequency when driving or every three hours in "Ignition off" mode (supplies the current status of the trailer regarding position, coupling status and, if necessary, door status) For curtainsider semitrailers and dry-freight box semitrailers "TrailerConnect® Info": - 15 minute reporting frequency when driving or every three hours in "Ignition off" mode Trailer technology data such as speed, mileage, unit load Alarm functions such as loading alarms (door, temperature, coupling state) and trailer technology alarms Trailer usage and fleet analysis reports Planned time / watchbox management Refrigeration boxes , truck bodies, refrigeration trailers "TrailerConnect® Temperature" - - 15 minute reporting frequency when driving or every three hours in "Ignition off" mode (supplies the current status of the trailer regarding position, coupling status and, if necessary, door status) Trailer technology data such as speed, mileage, unit load alarm functions such as loading alarms (door, temperature, coupling state) and trailer technology alarms Planned time / watchbox management Immediate trip representation stationary / running times Trailer usage and fleet analysis reports Temperature monitoring, temperature reports Refrigerating unit data Customers can use the new package "TrailerConnect® Interface" for all trailer types and use of the standardised API interface for data integration. The contents are agreed individually depending on the customer requirements. As a telematics partner for haulage, logistics and trailer hire companies, Cargobull Telematics offers a wide range of products and services on an international basis. 2010-129 More than 8,000 trailers from a variety of manufacturers and in different designs are already on the road with TrailerConnect® or its forerunners. The market for trailer telematics is growing rapidly and Cargobull Telematics considers itself to be in a good position thanks to their new high-performance product with competitive prices and comprehensive services. More and more customers are realising that trailer telematics is increasingly growing in importance, since it places the cargo at the centre of focus. New vehicles are being equipped with TrailerConnect® directly from the Schmitz Cargobull production line, whilst existing vehicles are being retrofitted. As such, Cargobull Telematics is taking ever greater advantage of the Europe-wide Schmitz Cargobull Service Partner network. TrailerConnect®, or its previous generation are already being successfully used by customers for many different applications: for preventive maintenance of trailers, monitoring of safeguarded transport, for increasing the transporting transparency of trailer fleets, for optimising routes and loading or for quality assurance of refrigerated and frozen goods. And since it is international, customer specific solutions can be offered from Portugal to Central Asia or from Sicily to the North Cape. In the process, customers are relying more and more on real process optimisation in fleet management and dispatch. This leads to the implementation of complete logistics projects, where the trailer telematics are integrated into the fleet management system alone or together with other applications. This allows more energy to be spent on other important activities, relieves both the logistics company and the carrier and also increases profits. The required safety is based on a high and sustainable hardware and system performance. This is offered by Cargobull Telematics with the high quality hardware TrailerConnect® as well as their system partners, T-Systems and T-Mobile. This high-quality pool of experience, 2010-129 built up over the past few years, has been constantly drawn upon in order to establish improvements and a reliable system stability. Our many years of know-how are paying off for the user today and, in practice, differentiate Cargobull Telematics from many other providers. The price / performance ratio has been significantly improved yet again. For the hardware components we were able to reduce costs by more than 30 %. Even for the operating costs, we were able to improve the existing highly competitive offer even further. Cargobull Telematics GmbH is a subsidiary of the Schmitz Cargobull Group and has its head office in Münster, Germany. With over 8,000 trailer telematics systems installed, it is the leading company in the telematics sector.
