Map Stop #2 Miramar Lake (across the street from the library) Stop #3: Mt. Woodson, Ramona/Poway: North side of Highway 67 just past mileage post 18. Map Study questions: (Hand in answers to these questions for credit on the field trip. Answers must be legible!) 1. What is the name of the igneous rock formation exposed across from the library and what type of igneous rock is it? 2. To what geologic period does this formation belong and what is the approximate age? 3. What is the name of the sedimentary rock formation exposed at Miramar Lake and what type of rock is it? 4. To what geologic period does this formation belong and what is the approximate age? 5. What is the name of the igneous rock formation exposed at the Mt. Woodson area and what type of rock is it? 6. To what geologic period does this formation belong and what is the approximate age? 7. Compare the rock found at the library with that of Mt. Woodson. Are the two more alike in texture, or mineral composition? Explain your choice: 8. What does the presence of Mt. Woodson (and the other granite peaks in the county) tell us about the geologic history of the area? 9. What type of rock makes up the cobbles known as Poway Clasts, found at Miramar Lake?
