London Dragon Boat Festival - 27 June 2010
This is the 3rd year that the HKUAA UK is to participate in the London Dragon Boat
Festival after 2 very successful years in 2008 and 2009. The forthcoming Dragon
Boat Festival is on the last Sunday in June at the prestigious London Regatta
Centre.
The festival promises to be a great day out for the whole
family — apart from the dragon boat races, there will be live
entertainment; cultural stalls, food stalls, and children’s play
area.
As with the Festival last year, we are inviting alumni from all
the other universities in Hong Kong to join us to constitute the
“Joint HK Universities Dragon Boat Team”. Each dragon
boat team in the races consists of 16 paddlers and 1
drummer. We welcome all alumni and family members of all
ages to take part in what is now becoming the annual tradition
of university alumni from Hong Kong, as well as a fun way to
keep fit and remind ourselves of Hong Kong.

The cost of participation for each paddlers is only £20 per
head, which includes a free team T-shirt, 2 training sessions
on a weekend which will be arranged a few weeks beforehand
and lunch/drinks on race day. Life jackets and all safety
equipment will be provided both at the training sessions and
on the day. Please hurry, as places on the team are limited;
applications will be handled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Our team also need supporters — so even if you are not paddling, come and bring family
with you to be supporters/spectators to cheer our team on and to spend an enjoyable day.
The cost for supporters is £15 per head, and this includes a team T-shirt and lunch/drinks for
the day.
To cover the overall cost we also invite sponsorship from all alumni in the UK and hope we
can rely on your generous support whether you are able to attend the boat races or not.
