1 - Reduce waste by recycling materials used to deliver products to our Customers
Reducing waste: The Delivery Tote Program
Here is how the PSS Delivery Tote Initiative works to use recycled materials and reduce waste:

The paper bags used in deliveries are now made of Recycled Material and distributed through our Global Redistribution
Center. And, the Plastic Tote is immediately taken out of the Customer’s office by the Delivery Professional and returned to
PSS for reuse.
Also, many of our PSS and GSMS facilities are using trash compactors and/ or recycling plastic and cardboard to reduce
waste.
2 - Increase fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions of our delivery fleet
Increasing efficiency of our fleet:
Combined, PSS and GSMS have over 500 delivery vehicles on the road every day. While making deliveries to our
Customers, these vehicles travel around 1.5 Million Miles per year.
Getting deliveries to our Customer more efficiently Route Optimization programs are decreasing our cost to deliver while increasing Customer Satisfaction. Our Customers
prefer receiving their products from our great PSS and GSMS Delivery Professionals. We utilize customer sales data and
mapping techniques to allow a Delivery Professional to make more Customer deliveries while driving less miles.
PSS and GSMS Delivery Professional Training and GPS Utilization By reducing speed and idle time of our vehicles, Delivery Professionals are able to decrease our fuel and oil consumption and
increase the life of our equipment.
Taking care of our Fleet -
Properly inflated tires can improve fuel economy performance up to 6%. Regular tune-ups can improve
performance while increasing fuel economy by over 11% and reduce the amount of emissions we release into the
environment. Replacing air filters on a regular basis can increase fuel consumption by as much as 10%. Also,
preventive maintenance reduces break downs that can interrupt Customer deliveries.
3 - Innovate facilities with energy and water saving technologies
Facility innovation:
Here are a few examples of things that we’ve done to make our facilities Greener:






Higher value insulation in temperature controlled and office areas
Window film used to reduce solar heat in offices
Large fans to circulate air in warehouses
Energy efficient fluorescent lighting with motion detectors to activate
Timers on thermostats to turn off heat and air when it’s not needed
Water saving automatic faucets

reducing waste and producing goods with more environmentally friendly materials.
