UUSA COMMITTEES Purpose, Members, Meetings Committee Committee on Ministry Purpose The purpose of the Committee on Ministry is to strengthen the quality of ministry within the society. The committee serves as a support group for the Minister and bridge between the Minister and the society. Sunday Services The purpose of the Sunday Services Committee is to plan worship services for those weeks when the Minister is not in the pulpit. Music The purpose of the Music Committee is to work with the Minister in planning the music program for Sunday Services, facilitate concerts, manage the music budget and facilitate communication between the musicians and the Minister. Caring The purpose of the Caring Committee is to provide a network of caring within the community of UUSA, connecting all members and long-term friends with a 'person who cares' and maintaining a caring contact so that support is offered in time of need. The committee also uses a phone tree to notify members and friends of cancellations and other important events. This is usually done by letter writing and Lauren Croce petitions as well as through our two social justice Nancy Foster themed Sunday services. In addition, we offer Paula Gaby opportunities for hands-on support of local Chad Johnson organizations that serve people in need. One of the committee’s most significant goals Louise and Ron Grosslein is to support and put into action our belief in the Gordon and Mary Wyse seventh principle of the UUA: We covenant to affirm Jay Stryker and promote respect for the interdependent web of all Ted Ennis existence of which we are a part. Long-Range Planning The purpose of the Long-Range Planning Committee is to assist the society in exploring and planning for its building needs. The committee is working towards the goal of having a physical space that meets the society’s needs and helps it fulfill its ministry. Leadership Development The purpose of the Leadership Development Committee is to identify volunteer leaders to serve on the Board of Trustees and other key committees. The committee works with the Board and Minister to ensure that committees are composed of members from diverse backgrounds and experiences and who express different voices. The purpose of the Safe Congregations Committee is to ensure that our UUSA community and all its gatherings are conducted in a safe manner allowing for the fulfillment of our mission. This includes: emergency preparedness, pandemics, disruptive behavior, fire, disasters, etc. The purpose of the Meetinghouse Committee is to maintain and make minor repairs to the meetinghouse. Tasks are completed largely by committee members and other society volunteers. Seasonal grounds keeping, maintaining and enhancing the beauty and aesthetics of the building are key components of work. The purpose of the Stained Glass Windows Committee is to raise funds to preserve the stained glass art treasures and restore them to their former beauty. In addition, the committee trys to educate the community about these magnificent windows.
