Inspection Plan

INTRODUCTION
Prince William County Solid Waste Division staff have established this policy for the
purposes of regulatory compliance, protection of public health and safety, and the
beautification of solid waste facilities.

RESPONSIBILITES
Staff will conduct a weekly site inspection. The Laborer Foreman is responsible
for pond maintenance, litter control and grounds maintenance.

PROCEDURES
A weekly site inspection is performed by facility staff. Problem areas are addressed
as soon as possible. The inspection is recorded on the Balls Ford Road Weekly
Inspection Form. (Attachment A).
The Laborer Foreman is also responsible for ensuring that ponds are cleaned and that
the grass around the facility is mowed as needed.
The Laborer Foreman is responsible for ensuring that pond maintenance is conducted
as requested by the Engineer II or the Solid Waste Superintendent.
The Laborer Foreman is responsible for ensuring that litter is collected around the
scale, the Citizen Convenience Center and throughout the site as needed and that litter
collection activities are recorded in the Ball Ford Road Trash Pickup Log.

A monthly tank integrity inspection is performed by the Engineer II. The inspection
also includes safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, spill kits, and first aid kits.
(Attachment C).

EQUIPMENT
The contractor is responsible for inspecting and maintaining the equipment.
A list of equipment used by the contractor for compost operations is found in
(Attachment D).
