HELP NEEDED SETTTING UP THE HAUNT
Earn money for your club!
Those who help setting up the Haunt can come to the Dairy Barn any day listed on the calendar. You do not need to sign
up ahead of time. ALL younger children MUST be supervised by an adult. $5000 of the money earned by the Haunt is
returned to the clubs according to the total number of hours club members spend working.
Makeup Seminar Come to the Show Arena on Tuesday, Sept 29th from 6-7:20pm.
Learn how to use the airbrush
machine, how to use latex to create great effects and more, much, much more! Recommended for anyone who wants
to help with makeup the nights of the Haunt as well as those who want to learn how to apply their own Haunt makeup.
This class is completely free and open to everyone!!!
Scare Tactics
This NEW seminar will be held in the Show arena on Tuesday, Sept. 29th from 7:30-9pm. Learn
techniques that have worked for your very own 4-H Leaders and members. Be prepared to scare and be scared! This
seminar Does NOT take the place of the mandatory Advanced training that all actors, crew & Haunt Patrol are required
to attend.
All members can help advertise the Haunt and Jamboree:

Coupons can NOT be handed out on the Fairgrounds the nights of the Haunt

The club that has the most coupons returned per active 4-Club member (2015) will win a pizza party
•Haunt Car or truck magnets for rent @ $10 each to be refunded when returned. Magnets will be available in
the Dairy Barn on work nights/Saturdays and @ Leader’s meeting on Sept. 17th.
Experienced Haunt Actors Wanted
•Looking for 4-H youth and adults who are willing to share ideas for getting the best scares. Let Nancy know if you are
able to help out with the “SCARE tactics” seminar on September 29th from 7:30-9pm in Show Arena
•Two or three 4-H youth who have been to actor training in the past are needed to help with this year’s training on Oct.
1st and / or Oct. 6th. Let Nancy know if you can help out.
NEW: Read the Rules on video (Due Oct. 2nd)
We need groups or individuals to submit their version of reading the Haunt rules. Suggestions: wear costumes/makeup,
role play, use props & creepy music, have cue cards, involve your club, family & other community members; film
outside, inside or at the fairgrounds. Use your imagination to create a quality video that is entertaining and
informational. Acceptable submissions will be played in a loop to all guests waiting in the Horse Barn. Contact Nancy

1. Outdoor Ghoulies: Costumed outdoor spooks: Escort guests from ticketing area to horse barn. Must have two
costumed adult supervisors each night or ghoulies will not be allowed. Youth must be in 6th grade or older. Come to
one overview training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
2. Parking Attendants: 3 Adults / youth in 8th grade or older per night. Younger members must be accompanied by
parent. Maintain organization and safety of lot. Direct guests to ticket area. Wear Staff T-shirt or costume. Come to
one overview training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
3. Ticket Sales: Communicate with Rule readers and Houston via radio. Two/Three adults per night. Sell tickets to
guests. Wear costume or Staff T-shirt. Come to one overview training session the first time you help @ the Haunt.
4. Concessions: 3 adults per night plus 2 youth per night. Youth younger than 6th grade must be accompanied by adult.
Sell food and beverage to guests. Keep area clean, remove trash. Costumes or Staff T-shirts. Come to one overview
training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
5. Rules readers: 2 volunteers per night. One must be adult. 2nd can be older youth. Read rules to guests in the Horse
Barn. Wear costume or Staff T-shirt. Come to 1 overview training the first time you help @ Haunt.
6. Gatekeepers: Minimum four volunteers per night. Costumed and silent. Two must be adult. Others must be 8th
grade or older. Put small groups of guests (4-6) into stalls. Scare guests in stalls. Release guests into Haunt at intervals.
Come to one overview training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
7. Grim Reaper: Two costumed and silent Adults or High Schoolers per evening. Escort guests from horse barn to Haunt
entrance. Come to one overview training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
8. Actors: MUST be 8th grade and older. No exceptions. Adults encouraged to participate. Costumed volunteers will
be assigned specific role in the Haunt. Responsible for scaring guests as well as maintaining a safe environment. Must
attend one advanced training session EVERY year.
9. Crew: Scares guests while working behind the scenes. Operate special effects. Responsible for maintaining a safe
environment. Must attend one advanced training session EVERY year.
10. Haunt Patrol: 6 adults per evening. Dark costumes. Roam through assigned zone and maintain safety of guests and
actors and crew. First responders to any problem. Radio contact. Come to overview training the first time you help @
Haunt. Attendance @ one advanced training session strongly recommended
11. Make up: Adults and youth help actors apply makeup. Arrive at 4pm. Done by 6pm. Will need someone each night
to clean up the makeup airbrush system. Overview training optional.
12. Costumes: Adults to return all costumes to hangers, clean masks, laundry and mending as necessary. One from 46pm and one from 10-11pm. Overview training optional.
13. Show Arena Attendants : •Three adults / older youth from 4-7pm. Help set up meal. Make sure actors get to Haunt
by 5:35pm. Check in all volunteers. Clean up meal. •One to two adults from 7-10:30pm will monitor building, help
distribute 8pm snack, check out all volunteers and help document service hours. Overview training optional.
14. First Aide: one qualified adult to be present on the grounds. This person can also sign up for another job. Must
check out radio at Houston. Come to one overview training session the first time you help @ Haunt.
15. 8pm snack: provide a snack for approximately 100 volunteers. Overview training optional.
16. Flex worker: Brave adults who are willing to do any job! Bless your heart! Come to one overview training session
the first time you help @ Haunt.
