Porters Landing Yard of the Month
Guidelines
The purpose of the Yard of the Month program is to recognize and reward
residents of Porters Landing who demonstrate a high standard of care for their
property. This contributes to the general appearance, appeal and value of our
sub-division as a whole.
Each month from April through October, a different resident will be selected to
receive this award. A Yard of the Month sign will be placed in their yard for all
to see and they will receive a $25.00 gift card for the Lowes Home Improvement
Store.
The following criteria will be used in the selection of the Yard of the Month
award. The judges will make their selection by the 5th of each month. The sign
will remain in the winner’s yard until the next winner is selected.
Well-Groomed yard (1 point for each quality)
Green lawn neatly mowed and edged; minimal weeds
Variety of plants/color (trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.)
Trees and bushes trimmed
Flower beds free of weeds
Landscape features (fountains, large rocks, statues, etc. all in good condition)
Light post in good condition (paint not faded or chipped, clean glass)
Mailbox and post in good condition with easy to read house numbers
Buildings, fences, porches, patios, etc. visible from the road in good repair
Yard free of litter, junk, toys, pet feces, etc.
Garbage and recycling containers not visible from road
If a tie breaker is needed, extra consideration can be given for the overall appearance of the
home from the street view. (Shutters, doors and trim not faded; roof in good repair, siding free
of dirt and mold, etc.)
 Yards can only be selected for “Yard of the Month” once
during each calendar year.
 Members of the Landscaping Committee are not eligible to
receive this award.
