Cinch Shootout Champions Crowned at National Western Stock Show

DENVER (January 15, 2015) --- Five rodeo contestants got a little new year’s bonus at the
National Western Stock Show on Thursday at the Cinch Super Shootout.
Contestants representing eight prestigious rodeos competed for $55,000 in prize money. Those
rodeos included the National Western Stock Show Rodeo; Calgary (Alberta) Stampede; Reno (Nev.)
Rodeo; San Angelo (Texas) Stock Show Rodeo; Fort Worth (Texas) Stock Show & Rodeo; Cheyenne
(Wyo.) Frontier Days; Rodeo Austin (Texas) and Rodeo Houston.
One contestant in bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, women’s barrel race and
bull riding from each of those rodeos rode in the first round. Then the top four from that round advanced
to a final round where the lion’s share of the money was paid.
Additionally contestant’s earned points for how they placed in the two rounds to decide a team
champion. A check for $5,000 was awarded to the Calgary Stampede team for their first place finish.
That team included bareback rider Will Lowe, Canyon, Texas; Jacobs Crawley, Stephenville, Texas;
Trevor Knowles, Mount Vernon, Ore.; Jean Winters, Texline, Texas; and Pistol Robinson, Coolidge,
Texas. Each member also got a trophy watch from Cinch Jeans and Shirts.
Earning the most points for Calgary was Pistol Robinson in the bull riding. He won the first
round with an 86.5-point score and when all of the bull riders bucked off in the final round he also won
the championship and $5,000.
Austin Foss had an outstanding 88-point ride in bareback riding for the title. The Terrebonne,
Ore., resident rode for the Reno Rodeo and was one of two contestants riding for Reno that earned a
$5,000 check. The other one was Colorado’s own Christine Laughlin in the barrel race.
Chad Ferley got the saddle bronc riding win for Cheyenne Frontier Days. The Oelrichs, S.D.,
resident won with an 86-point ride. In the steer wrestling it was California’s Stan Branco that earned the
title. He stopped the clock in 4.64 seconds getting the win for the San Angelo Stock Show Rodeo.
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association action starts in the Denver Coliseum on Friday with
performances at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
