Thematic Lesson Plan Template ♦ 2011 ♦ Cherice Montgomery, Ph.D. & Span 378 Students ♦ cherice_montgomery@byu.edu Adaptations: 1) Students who are native speakers will write more complex sentences for part B of the worksheet and the Journal entries. For the speaking activity, there will only be a maximum of one native speaker per group. 2) Students who are gifted will write more complex sentences for part B of the worksheet and the journal entries. They will be paired with struggling students for the speaking activity. 3) Students who are disabled will be able to finish the worksheet at home for homework if not finished and if permitted extra time on assignments by a 504 plan. In extreme cases (autism) students will be able to write their statements instead of speaking them during the speaking activity. Sponge Activities: 1) White board races with conjugating verbs into the imperfect. The teacher will tell the students a verb in English and a subject and the students must write the correct answer on their boards and put them up in the air. 2) White board races with teams. Students will have one white board per column. The teacher will say a verb and students must start with the board in the back and one at a time, fill in one form of the verb with correct subjects. When all are filled in the class will check it for correctness. First team to finish wins and gets a point. The next round, have a different player on the team start. 3) Continue play of Cuban games for longer if extra time is left over. Alternatively, have a native student in the class teach a game they know from their native country to the class.
