Re: 900 History, geography, and auxiliary disciplines: Selected topics This exhibit provides updates to several countries of Central America, South America, and Central Europe. The intention is to provide subdivisions for recent history based on political administrations where feasible. Except for special circumstances, 2006 was used as the cut-off date for named administrations in captions. Unqualified number spans are used for administrations that came into power after 2006. The current caption for 972.8204 that was created in Edition 20 is not entirely appropriate, as Belize remained a British colony through 1981, although from 1964 to 1981, Belize (British Honduras until 1973) was a self-governing colony. It is proposed to include this period in 972.8204 where it should have been in the first place. There are currently 24 works classed in 972.8205 in WorldCat, 21 of which are not dealing with the relocated time frame, either because they have a Dewey number that came from Edition 19 (when this class covered the entire 20th century), are more recent works about contemporary Belize after 1989 (when the class was changed to cover 1964 3 to present), or are misclassed. Only three works appear to be specifically about topics from the 1964–1981 period. 972.820 4 Period as a British colony, 1862–19631981 Including period as self-governing colony, 1964–1981 [formerly 972.8205] Class here 20th century For 19641981–1999, see 972.8205 972.820 5 19641981– 1964–1981 relocated to 972.820 4 972.83 Honduras After 25 years of mostly military regimes, a civilian government came to power in 1982. We have to wait for the outcome of the current constitutional crisis to provide subdivisions for the most recent history. 972.830 53 1978–2006 972.830 531 1978–1982 972.830 532 Administration of Roberto Suazo Córdova, 1982–1986 972.830 533 Administration of José Azcona H., 1986–1990 972.830 534 Administration of Rafael Leonardo Callejas Romero, 1990–1994 972.830 535 Administration of Carlos Roberto Reina, 1994–1998 972.830 536 Administration of Carlos Flores Facussé, 1998–2002 972.830 537 Administration of Ricardo Maduro, 2002–2006 972.830 54 2006– 972.84 El Salvador Qualified periods are given to administrations after the end of the civil war in 1992. 4 972.840 54 1994– 972.840 541 Administration of Armando Calderón Sol, 1994–1999 972.840 542 Administration of Francisco Flores Pérez, 1999–2004 972.840 543 Administration of Elías Antonio Saca, 2004–2009 972.840 544 2009– 972.85 Nicaragua 972.850 54 1990– 972.850 541 Administration of Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, 1990–1997 972.850 542 Administration of Arnoldo Alemán, 1997–2002 972.850 543 Administration of Enrique Bolaños Geyer, 2002–2007 972.850 544 2007– 972.86 Costa Rica Next elections are going to be held in February 2010. 972.860 52 1986–2002 972.860 521 Administration of Óscar Arias Sánchez, 1986–1990 972.860 522 Administration of Rafael Angel Calderón Fournier, 1990–1994 972.860 523 Administration of José María Figueres, 1994–1998 972.860 524 Administration of Miguel Angel Rodríguez, 1998–2002 972.860 53 2002– 972.860 531 Administration of Abel Pacheco, 2002–2006 972.860 532 Administration of Óscar Arias Sánchez, 2006– 5 972.87 Panama 972.870 54 1999– 972.870 541 Administration of Mireya Moscoso, 1999–2004 972.870 542 Administration of Martín Torrijos, 2004–2009 972.870 543 2009– SOUTH AMERICA 982 Argentina 982.07 1999– 982.071 1999–2003 Class here administration of Fernando de la Rúa, 1999-2001; administration of Eduardo Alberto Duhalde, 2002–2003 982.072 Administration of Néstor Kirchner, 2003–2007 982.073 Administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, 2007– 983 Chile 983.066 1990– 983.066 1 Administration of Patricio Aylwin Azócar, 1990–1994 983.066 2 Administration of Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, 1994–2000 983.066 3 Administration of Ricardo Lagos Escobar, 2000–2006 983.066 4 Administration of Michelle Bachelet, 2006– 984 Bolivia 1952–1982 marks a period of military rule, 1982–1997 a transition to democratic practices.
