please try and keep your submission to 5 pages maximum.

DLF PUBLIC SCHOOL “THE LEARNING ACADEMY” running under the aegis of ‘Darbari Lal Foundation’ is
situated in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. The school is presently nurturing about 2600 students aged
between 3years to 17 years.
DLF public school strives to give every pupil the balanced learning by blending Indian cultural values with
the finest modern curriculum with every year growing to a still greater level. The school endeavours to
better itself with each step to reach excellence by : “ Looking Inward to Excel Outward.”
MISSION: To embark each learner on a journey of self-discovery and self-learning there by creating
committed, socially responsible, global citizens who are nurtured in safe, child centred, empowering
environment rooted in Indian culture.
VISION: our defining aim is: Preparing, caring, courageous and concerned citizens- OF THE WORLD, FOR

Briefly describe your existing school business. Please tell us the products/services you are currently
selling. (2) This answer is really helpful for School Enterprise Challenge judges who may not be familiar
with your business.
Presently we are running the school business named as “MONEY PLANT” which is engaged in
producing, marketing and selling the aesthetically appealing, unique and environment friendly artisan
products such as clay decorates, designer candles, hand-made jewellery, decorative plants, food items
and sculptures.
The reason behind the name “MONEY PLANT” is characteristics of the plant:
The each branch of such evergreen plant itself grows as a new plant; in a same way we wish that every
student from our school business will grow as an entrepreneur.

The success of our business is the outcome of the following actions:
1. The strong and well thought designed organisational structure which is duly divided in various
departments with the clearly defined relationships of authority and responsibility.
Our enterprise is divided in to following departments by allotting the different heads on the basis
of skills to each department:
a) Research and Development
b) Finance and Accounting
c) Marketing
d) Production and Warehouse
e) Sales and Publicity
2. Cost effective raw material such as using recyclable raw material and low production cost by utilising the
resources from within the school like training the school students for the life skills by empowering them
through the direct involvement in the production as well as distribution process.
3. Providing the eco-friendly, unique and aesthetically appealed products to consumers.

Which of your ideas did you choose as your Final Business Development Idea and why? (6). Please give
3 reasons why you chose this idea. Remember to use the results of your Feasibility Study in your answer.
After thorough Feasibility study and business environment scanning we have decided to extend our
existing business MONEY PLANT by implementing the following business ideas as our final business
plans:
 Introduction of the new project of vermicompost within the school premises.
 Extension of and craft products by introducing uniquely paper and wooden jewellery, ecofriendly paper bags etc.
 Extension of foodies business by introducing new product like tasty pickles etc.
Reason 1: Easy availability of resources like raw material for the vermicompost, pickles and paper
bags and free physical resource of our school and the skills of our students.
Reason 2: Low start-up cost for such products like cost effective and recyclable raw materials, free
skills of manpower, higher profitability and consumer demands for the above products.
Reason 3: Equipping the students with new skills by exposing them to real business environment
and experiential learning and also it helps in fulfilling the social responsibility of the
business as well because of collaborating and bringing the products of KGBVs in to main
stream and providing them the opportunity to grow as well.

How does your Final Business Development idea meet the People, Profit, Planet criteria? (6).
Our business represents people, profit and planet on account of following:
PEOPLE:


DLF School Children will take the ownership of running business thus providing them first- hand
experience of entrepreneurship. This will hold them in good stead once they start their
professional careers. This streak of entrepreneurship will generate employment opportunities
for future generations.
By providing the opportunities to the KGBVs students to grow with this venture will also help the
under privileged children to grow to their full potential and become them economically
empowered in the future.
PROFIT:
There is an increased and overwhelming response of our uniquely designed, aesthetically
appealing as well environment friendly products amongst the rich, middle and upper middle
class people which turned out to be extremely profitable and successful feature for the
business.
PLANET:
The business will be using the environmental friendly and natural resources as raw
materials that are available in abundance which will help in maintaining the environment clean
and safe and also fulfils the concept of sustainable development.

 By utilising the reward money won by our school from the SCHOOL ENTERPRISE
CHALLENGE under the project “TEACH A MAN TO FISH”.
Following are the reasons for the low working capital requirement:
 Cost effective raw material such as clay, herbs and plants etc.
 Free of cost spare space and other facilities provided by the school.
 Free manpower as we utilise the one hour/ week time slot provided by the Central Board of
Secondary Education.
