APOT Job Aid Definition Short: APOT – Additional Point of Termination Long: Further defines the physical Access Customer Terminal Location (ACTL) point of termination. May be in CLLI or any other format to identify a terminal location within an ACTL. ASR Ordering Requirements – OPTICAL SERVICES The APOT field may be required for the following Services: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Custom Connect – Point to Point Custom Connect - Ring Express Connect Ring Flex Express Connect Ring Dedicated SONET Ring (DSR) IntelliLight Optical Transport Service – Ring (IOTS) Ethernet Packet Ring Service (EPRS) IntelliLight Entrance Facilities (IEF) (Point-to-Point Asymmetrical Port – Point to Point The APOT field appears on the Access Service Request (ASR). The APOT field is required on the Access Service Request form: 1. When the ACTL is populated and Verizon is providing the electronics, Fiber Optical Terminal (FOT). 2. Contains the ACTL FOT CLLI code. 3. Optional entry if customer is providing the electronics (FOT) 4. Remains blank if the request is an End User form. Access Business Rules: Geographical Code - Positions 1 through 4 describe the designation for a single geographical locality within a state, province, territory, country, or distinct region of the world (e.g., municipality) (4 alpha characters). Geopolitical Code - Positions 5 and 6 describe the designation of a state or territory of the United States, a province or territory of Canada, another country having a national federal government, or a unique designation (2 alpha characters). Network Site Code - Positions 7 and 8 describe the designation of a site of an existing or proposed structure within a geographical location where there is a need to identify one or more telecommunications equipment entities, facility terminations, nodal locations, or administrative operations (2 alpha or 2 numeric characters). Network Entity Code - Positions 9 through 11 describe the functional category of equipment or work center that is contained in a structure. Equipment categories, including central office switching and ancillary equipment or non-switching or access terminations, are associated with a building or network site for purposes of maintaining equipment inventories and for identifying facility and circuit terminations and nodal locations (3 alpha/numeric characters). See the Access Business Rules for more details. The first 8 characters of the CLLI code define the Verizon wire center. Positions 5 and 6 of the CLLI Code (as indicated in the Access Business Rules above) describe the designation of a State or territory of the United States by using 2 alpha characters. Edit/Usage Rules for the APOT Field on an ASR Form in the Admin Section: VZEEFLD5798 VZEEFLD5799 VZEEFLD6173 If AI=C, APOT must be either 8 or 11 character CLLI APOT required if AI=C If AI=C, APOT CLLI and State value must be valid At the ACTL locations the APOT is populated with the 8 or 11 character CLLI of the FOT (Fiber Optical Terminal). The field may be a CLLI code or a narrative format to identify a termination location with an ACTL. The customer may pre-assign cross-connect information for its service to service order coordination Example: DATA CHARACTERISTICS: EXAMPLES: M I 11 alpha/numeric characters L N T N M A F X X Narrative Format B 1 7 NOTE 1: P 5 - J K 2 4 The above example could indicate Bay 17, Panel 5 and Jack 24 as the APOT. ***Field Notes When the entry in this field contains a CLLI Code, the format and structure of this field is ANSI in document T1.253, Identification of Location Entities for the North American Telecommunications System. The CLLI Code consists of the following elements: 1) Valid CLLI Codes are outlined in Telcordia Technologies practice BR 795-(100-186)-100. 2) Required when the ACTL field does not identify the specific physical termination point of service. 3) Otherwise optional. If a circuit derives from a higher-level facility (CFA) at the POP, which has a different CLLI than the ACTL CLLI, the APOT should be populated with the CLLI associated with the CFA. In the case of a SONET/WDM facility, the APOT CLLI may utilize one of several formats (K++, O++, or N++). In all cases, the APOT CLLI should have the same first 8 digits as the ACTL CLLI. Again, APOT is not used for only Optical Products. In the Optical arena, it is used when a circuit is derived from an Optical service and the ACTL CLLI is not the same as the CLLI of the equipment at that location.
