JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM
Paul Fichter, our PGA golf professional, and the golf staff are pleased to announce the 9-week, 2015
Junior Golf Program. Our junior teaching program will follow the US Kids Learning Program which is
recognized as a premier instructional program for kids. Instructional booklets for each level of achievement will
be available for sale in the pro shop for a price of $6. Each student will receive a complimentary golf hat and
weekly achievement pins at no additional charge. The total fee for each student to participate in the 2015 Junior
Golf Program is $175.
The program will be instructed by Paul, assisted by Robert “Woody” Brooks and the golf staff. The
juniors program will also include (a) the Titleist Performance Institute (“TPI”) Program which trains young
golfers on how the body affects the golf swing, and (b) the ParKit Junior Golf Program which offers fun games
for young children covering all aspects of playing a round of golf.
Additional sets of attractive, yet inconspicuous tee plates will be placed on each hole of the golf course
to allow children who are not yet proficient enough for our existing tees to use these tees which will be closer to
the greens. Adult golf beginners or those who prefer the shorter distance may also use these special tees. These
tees will provide a way to make golf enjoyable for beginners without impeding the pace of play. Again this
year, our Junior Golf Program will be available to the children and grandchildren of all Heathers members.
The program for Beginners and Intermediate players will be held on Tuesday mornings and the
Advanced Players Junior Golf Program will be held on Monday Mornings. The reason for this division between
Monday and Tuesday is that it will provide for more personalized instruction for each group without overcrowding and give each group more playing time on the golf course.
Those who will play on Tuesday mornings are:
1. Beginners who are at least four years of age and are new to the game. These are youth who are
working on basic fundamentals including the grip and stance. Basic fundamentals, rules and
etiquette will be taught. Participants in this group will be given instruction on the driver, fairway
woods, irons, chipping, bunker play and putting. These students will play at least one hole each
week culminating in the Junior Club Championship where beginner participants compete within
their own group.
2. Intermediate players are those who have a grasp of the basic fundamentals of the game such as grip,
stance and when to use woods or irons, etc. The intermediate player hits the ball far more often than
missing it and can play 3 to 4 holes with only light supervision. Intermediate players will receive
more advanced instruction on the driver, fairway woods, irons, chipping, bunker play and putting
along with more in-depth focus on the grip, stance, as well as etiquette and rules of the game. These
students will play at least three holes each week culminating with the Junior Club Championship
where Intermediate players compete within their own group.
Those who will play on Monday mornings are advanced players who are juniors who have a good
understanding of swing basics and a strong concept of safety, etiquette and the rules of the game. No real
1
supervision is needed on the golf course for these players and they have the ability to play 9-holes in two hours
or less. These advanced players will receive a group lesson each Monday from Paul Fichter, our PGA golf
professional, and then will play at least 9-holes of golf. These players may choose to play more if they wish.
During each class, following the instructional portion of the class, the players in the Advanced group
will play 9-holes of golf, players in the Intermediate group will play 3-holes and players in the Beginner group
will play 1-hole. Parents, grandparents and members with or without a child or grandchild in the Program are
encouraged to sign-up in the golf shop or call the golf shop at 248-334-4494 to sign-up as volunteers to assist in
this Program.

3. Swimming, Tennis, Breakfast and Lunch during the 2015 Junior Golf Program
The Heathers Club will be serving continental and full breakfasts each Monday and Tuesday for the parents,
grandparents and others who bring students to the Junior Golf Program. You may have a coffee or soda, a
Danish or bagel or a full breakfast on the patio while watching your student participate in this year’s Junior Golf
Program or, if you wish, you may join us inside in the Grille for the same.
Following the Junior Golf Program we hope you will decide to stay at the Heathers for swimming, tennis and
lunch. You may swim with your student or simply enjoy your favorite beverage from one of our umbrella
topped tables at the swimming pool while watching the swim. You can do the same at our tennis courts.
We also hope that after golf, swimming or tennis you will join us for lunch on the patio, at the pool or inside.
Players who have advanced to the level where they can play golf on their own without supervision, may stay
following the scheduled program, have lunch and play another 9-holes or more of golf without paying green fees
They may decide to have lunch on the porch or in the grille and may select a hot dog and soda for $5.50 or order
from the regular menu. Whatever you choose, we hope that you will make the most of each visit to the Heathers
this summer and that you will visit us often.
JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM
EARLY BIRD WALK-IN REGISTRATION DAY
You may submit your reservation forms for the Junior Golf Program on Early Bird Walk-in Registration Day
which is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
At the Early Bird Registration Day, Paul, Jeff and Woody will also be able to fit your child or grandchild with
exactly the right length of clubs based on your child or grandchild’s height and ability using the unique US Kids
Fitting System which is grounded on the idea that if you know the child’s height and ability, e.g. beginner,
intermediate or advanced, finding the right clubs is simple. US Kids indicates that club weight, shaft flex and
proper length are important to match the strength and height of young players. Teaching is made easier and a
young player’s performance improves significantly by having clubs that are the correct length.
The Heathers Shop will be offering a full range of US Kids Golf equipment this spring including woods, irons,
putters and golf bags. US Kids golf balls with a lower compression, softer feel and higher trajectory will be
offered for children with swing speeds between 70 and 90 miles per hour. Kid’s golf apparel will be available
including shoes, hats and shirts. So, bring your children and grandchildren to Registration Day so they can
register for the Junior Golf Program, attend the golf clinics, get fitted for US Kids golf equipment, play golf and
participate in all the fun. Paul will also be offering a 10% discount on all children’s clubs and children’s apparel
on Registration Day.
At the Early Bird Registration Day, the Heathers PGA golf professional, Paul Fichter, will offer free 15 minute
short-game clinics for your children and grandchildren at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
