ATIA 2015 Orlando January 28 - January 31, 2015 Caribe Royale All-Suites Resort & Convention Center Orlando, Florida Microsoft is sponsoring a special Call for Presentations for ATIA 2015 Orlando through October 6, 2014 to enable speakers to submit abstracts for the conference. Microsoft is seeking sessions that combine great teaching and learning activities for your students with disabilities and innovative and unique ways to use Microsoft technologies in the curriculum. Sessions that utilize Microsoft technology for the integration of students with disabilities into mainstream classrooms are also encouraged. Microsoft will be reviewing all submitted abstracts and awarding complimentary registrations to speakers with successful submissions. Microsoft selected speakers will also receive a special gift from ATIA in recognition of their participation in this program. PLEASE NOTE: There is a limit of no more than two speakers per abstract. Who should submit? Microsoft welcomes abstracts on the uses of Microsoft technologies in the Pre K-Higher Education fields in innovative ways to highlight great teaching and learning experiences for students. Microsoft Technologies include but are not limited to: Office 365 Lync Skype Windows tablets Windows 8 Yammer Special Ed Apps running on Windows Kinect Abstracts should cover the use of assistive technology from a practitioner or user perspective and may be in the form of a case study, demonstration, implementation study, research paper, or tips and techniques workshop. Although you will be able to save and revisit your work, for your convenience please have the following information on hand when submitting your abstract: speaker(s) biography (300 word limit) session title (10 word limit) abstract description (750 word limit) 3 learning objectives Directions for the Microsoft Call for Presentations: 1. Please note there is a maximum of two speakers per abstract. 2. Please only submit a maximum of two (2) abstracts per speaker. Please note ATIA Exhibitors and ATIA Members are not eligible for this program. 3. All sessions are 1 hour long. 4. Please be aware that if your submission is selected, it may be sent to the following, but not limited to, organizations for CEU approval: ACVREP, AOTA, and ASHA. Pay special attention to the Key Learning Objectives section of the submission form as these are an important part of part of the CEU approval process. Abstracts may be rejected based on incomplete or unqualified learning objectives. 5. Speakers whose abstracts are selected will be notified via email after October 6, 2014. Microsoft will be providing a complimentary full registration to the ATIA 2015 Conference to selected speakers. If a Microsoft selected speaker has already paid for registration, the registration fee will be refunded. By submitting an abstract, it is understood that the presentation may be scheduled at any time on any of the conference days at the discretion of the ATIA Education Committee and Microsoft Education Advisory Panel. . ATIA conferences utilize a paper-free, online handout policy. Speakers are required to upload handouts before the conference for attendees to review. Providing handouts in the online Handouts Directory is an important part of your conference speaking responsibilities. Handouts are made available online for 3 months after the conference and are greatly valued by attendees. Please note, speakers who do not provide handouts may not be considered for future conferences. Please be sure to review your submission for spelling and typographical errors. Upon acceptance these submission will be used for printed materials. Please note: ATIA reserves the right to edit for consistency, length, format and grammar as necessary. Full Session Abstract (Required) Limit 750 words. This is where you should provide a detailed outline and briefly describe each of the topics you intend to cover in the presentation. Learning Objectives (Required) Objectives should be specific and measurable and begin with an action verb. Use verbs such as describe, develop, identify, define, discuss, demonstrate, list, measure, review, state, explain, express, practice, use, apply, etc. Use specific quantities such as one, two, three, etc. For example: "Identify three differences between best practice A and best practice B." NOT: "Participants will learn many differences between best practice A and best practice B." This is important for as it is used as part of the selection process.
