This application form should be used in conjunction with the Test Users’ Handbook, by
Chartered Members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) who are applying for a test user qualification in forensic testing contexts. The Test Users’ Handbook can be downloaded from the “How to Apply and Packs” section of the Psychological Testing
Centre’s (PTC) website at www.psychtesting.org.uk.
There are two levels of qualification:

Assistant Test User: Forensic Contexts Test Administration - this is a prerequisite level for holding the Test User: Forensic Contexts qualification


There are two ways of applying for the qualifications through the grandparenting route:
Route 1
To be eligible to apply via route 1 you must meet the following criteria:

Be a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

Hold a current entry on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU)
In order to apply for the qualification(s) you should:
1. Download the forensic testing module sets and associated competencies from the
PTC website at www.psychtesting.org.uk
2. Review the module set descriptions and individual competencies to ensure you meet the required standards, are competent to apply these in typical forensic contexts and that you will apply these standards in future when using tests in forensic contexts.
NB. If you are not able to meet a few competencies, you can obtain the necessary training/experience during the two years that grand-parenting will be open or supply portfolio evidence for just those competencies (please see the route 2 process).
3. Complete the application form including the self-affirmation of competence (section
2). Please ensure that you sign both the Assistant Test User: Forensic (test administration and Test User: Forensic sections on page 5 indicating that you are competent in the forensic testing module sets and that you will apply these standards in future when using tests in forensic contexts.
4. Return the completed application form to the PTC by email to enquiry@psychtesting.org.uk
or by post to Psychological Testing Centre, British
Psychological Society, St Andrews House, 48 Princess Road East, Leicester LE1
7DR.
As applicants by this route will already have an entry on the Register of Qualifications in
Test Use (RQTU), they will not be required to pay any fees until their annual RQTU fee becomes due for renewal.
Route 2
To be eligible to apply via route 2 you must meet the following criteria:


In order to apply for the qualification(s) you will be required to do the following:
1. Download the forensic testing module sets and associated competencies from the
PTC website at www.psychtesting.org.uk
or request a copy of this from the PTC by emailing enquiry@psychtesting.org.uk

2. Review the module set descriptions and individual competencies to ensure you meet the required standards, and are competent to apply these in typical forensic contexts.
3. Provide an electronic portfolio evidencing how you have demonstrated the competencies in testing in forensic contexts. Your portfolio will be assessed by members of the Forensic Testing Verifiers Group. Applicants can submit a curriculum vitae as supporting evidence, in addition to their portfolio. (Please note portfolios must be submitted electronically). A portfolio template which contains details of the forensic testing module sets can be downloaded from the PTC website www.psychtesting.org.uk
, or requested from the PTC by emailing enquiry@psychtesting.org.uk
. Evidence in portfolios may include anonymised , completed Forensic Context testing cases examples, evidence of supervised practice by an existing Registered Test User, or certification of competence from a relevant authority.
4. Complete the application form including the self-affirmation of competence (section

7DR, with the appropriate fee, detailed below. Please note that portfolios cannot be reviewed if the fee is not paid.
Applicants via route 2 will be required to pay the following fees to offset the cost of assessing portfolios:

Assistant Test User level only - £75

Assistant Test User and Test User levels combined - £125
An annual registration fee of
£38 to maintain entry on the RQTU will be payable once the applicant’s portfolio has been successfully reviewed. We will send you an invoice for this amount.
To apply for a test user qualification, please fill in Section 1 of the attached application form and email it, along with your portfolio to enquiry@psychtesting.org.uk

In the event that an applicant is required to resubmit their portfolio for a second review due to them having provided insufficient information, the above fees will cover one resubmission. If a further submission is required, applicants will be required to pay an additional subm ission fee of £75 for Assistant Test User level or £125 for Assistant Test
User and Test User levels combined.
