Soil & Water Engineer
Location:
Toowoomba office but travel required across southern Queensland
Employment Status: Full-time, permanent after three month probation and subject to
annual review. Salary based on experience.

Purpose of Position:
 Undertake activities for clients in relation to all water licensing issues.
 Undertake irrigation / water resource engineering work in the areas of water use
efficiency, whole farm irrigation design, seepage monitoring, water resource
modelling, farm dam design and specification, land forming design, Land and Water
Management Plans and related water topics.
 Manage small to medium irrigation / water supply jobs.
 Promote IRRIMATE technologies on the Darling Downs and adjacent irrigation areas.
 Investigate funding opportunities in water use efficiency and property planning.
 Undertake other engineering activities are required from time to time.
Experience and Skills:
Applicants should hold an agricultural / civil / environmental engineering 4-year degree
recognised by Engineers Australia. A new graduate is suitable. Skills in AutoCAD, survey
reduction, GIS and water modelling software would be beneficial.

In summary, the conditions of employment are:

Salary is commensurate with skills, experience and consulting capability.
38 hour week with time-in-lieu system. No overtime is paid.
Salary is paid fortnightly in arrears directly into a bank account of your choice.
9% Superannuation is paid into a fund of your choice.
4 weeks annual recreation leave
10 days annual public holidays
10 days annual sick or family leave
All FSA Consulting staff are supplied with a personal mobile phone (currently iPhone4). FSA
Consulting pays for staff membership of professional organisations and pays for attendance at
conferences and workshop so that all staff meet a 50 hour per year minimum Continual
Professional Development program.

To select, install and maintain electronic data collection and monitoring equipment e.g.
automatic weather stations, seepage meters, storage meters, advance sensors, water
meters.
To provide specialist services to other FSA Consulting professional staff in the development
and completion of their proposals and jobs pertaining to soil and water engineering.
To provide specialist services to other FSA Consulting professional staff in the development
and completion of their proposals and jobs pertaining to drafting (AutoCAD, CivilCad, GIS)
services.

3 Outcomes from the Completion of your Technical Duties

1. Accept consulting assignments from your Job Captain or directly from the client and prepare
proposals to undertake the work based on the information provided by the client.
2. Complete written reports in accordance with the requirements specified in proposals. Adjust
reports (and proposals) if the client changes the job specification.
3. Complete your work in accordance with the standard operating Policies and Procedures of
the company.
4. Maintain your relationship with government departments.
Liaise with government
departments on behalf of clients for acquisition of information or data, extension of deadlines
and clarification of requirements.
5. Maintain your relationships with testing bodies and equipment suppliers that are used in the
completion of your duties.
6. Negotiate with other professional staff for their contribution to jobs that have been assigned to
you and for your contribution to their jobs.
7. Negotiate with the Job Captain for the sign off on completed projects and reports.
8. Respond to queries from clients on completed reports and billing enquiries.
9. Respond to queries from government agencies on completed projects and reports.
10. Provide specialist design services to other professional staff

Take responsibility for your own WPHS and well being and demonstrate good WPHS practices
by complying with FSA Consulting WPHS Procedures and undertaking WPHS training as
required by your role.
