Job summary:
Provide excellent nursing care for patients within a multidisciplinary large referral hospital.
Assist experts within all fields of Cardiology.
Maintain adequate Holter and Cardiology catheter supplies
Assist with the administration of treatments, specialist techniques and manage patients appropriately
Instruct and supervise veterinary students and student nurses performing nursing tasks
To maintain a flexible approach and dedication to work in a busy environment
Coordinate communication between clients and other members of the Cardiology Team

Maintain professional standards at all times
Provide excellent care to both patients and clients, report any concerns over compromised care to management
Ensure all procedures are carried out in a safe and efficient manner according to health and safety regulations
To be an experienced qualified RCVS registered veterinary nurse with experience of working in a busy hospital environment or practice
Assist with pacemaker procedures, including fluoroscopy, operating the temporary pacing unit, and then relate recovery instructions to key staff members
Assist with catheterization procedures, including maintaining records and ordering of catheter equipment
Maintain records of Holter equipment dispatch and reporting

Provide clear and concise verbal and written instructions to key staff on a day to day basis
Provide clear verbal communication, both face to face and on the telephone to pet owners, veterinary students, veterinary surgeons, other members of the hospital and colleagues across the college
Provide clear and accurate information on patient records/case notes (electronic and hard copy) and other documents to ensure compliance and continuity of outstanding patient care
Give student orientation on Monday mornings/ in liaison with cardiology clinicians update guidelines on student orientations

Provide excellent nursing care for all Cardiology patients, whether day cases or inpatients
React appropriately to requests for advice or information
Maintain the highest standard of infection control in all areas
Carry out regular checks on equipment in use and deal with any faults/repairs
Ensure all pricing done daily
Raising orders and maintaining stock levels (for cardiology and IR service)
Ensure all stock levels of consumables are maintained to the correct requirements
Update stock list for Cardiology to ensure stock levels are correct

Prioritise and complete tasks effectively and efficiently with the ability to work on own initiative, with limited supervision
Work in an organized manner and handle multiple tasks adapting to different routines
Run Holter clinic – from arranging appointment with owner to sending report to RVS. Chase up outstanding reports from clinicians
Manage and maintain stock levels of expensive specialist items
Plan elective cardiology procedures. Liaise with other services to enable these procedures to happen.
Organise visitor rota to Cardiology service
Liaise with ECC/Cardiology nurses re Cardiology visitors arrangements

Ensure the cardiology team supports a positive learning experience for all students in the QMHA
Give practical support to veterinary students as requested to ensure students gain relevant experience from their rotation
Flexibility: To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed, and the postholder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.
