The video which sits at the heart of this class as it focuses on the important issues of what the internet
means to the future of “copyright, authorship, identity, ethics, aesthetics, rhetoric, governance, privacy,
commerce, love, or family.” These ideas will be the basis of many of the readings and, of course, the first
essay. The original professor had apparently planned to make Mythology and the basis of current Western
culture the focus of the course. This revised course looks instead to take the present into the future.

to provide their own ideas about what these terms mean now and what they may mean later. Rules for
writing in this class are provided in the Papers Handout and a walk-through for form and function is
