For our recently commenced EU/EAR funded Technical Assistance project:
Strengthening of the Institute of Public Health Laboratory services in Serbia,
we offer a long-term full-time position for a national
NATIONAL COORDINATOR/IPH LABORATORY SERVICES EXPERT
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the improvement of the health of the
population in Serbia through sustainable strengthening of Public Health Laboratory Services with
regard to quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness
The specific objectives of the project are to:
 Achieve reliable and comparable quality of laboratory services.
 Achieve cost-effective IPH laboratory services.
 Optimize use of Public Health Laboratory Services by supporting communication and
collaboration with clients.
 Improve the image of the Public Health Institute Laboratories
Therefore the successful candidate for the national coordinator position should hold:
 Senior Public Health Institute expert, with IPH laboratory relevant working experience at
national and/or government level;
 Proven experience in organisational development;
 Strong managerial and communication skills;
 Proven negotiating skills;
 Good contacts with the media;
 Experienced in project management;
 Knowledge of the health reforms of other countries in transition;
 Fluent in English
Post Description:
 Assist the team leader in all technical aspects of the project, including project
management and media contact;
 Deputise for the Team Leader as required;
 Advise the Team Leader on the Serbian context of the project;
 Advise and assist the MoH, local authorities and the IPH's to implement activities related
to the project;
 Assist stakeholders to promote best practice;
 Assist stakeholders to link with other agencies to promote joint planning of services.
 Support organisation of RLC activities
The project will last 2 ½ years and the successful candidate is expected to start in November 2005
