NL polarization, susceptibility tensors, ABDP, Kleiman relations, …
Chapter 2 :
Second ordrer non linear effects
Description of the 3-waves interactions, main parameters for NL efficiency
Phase matching condition, Manley-Rowe relations …
Main illustrations :
Second harmonic generation, NL Brewster effect
Pockels effect – Electrooptic modulation
Parametric amplification - Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO)
Phase matching by periodic modulation of the refractive index

Third ordrer non linear effects
Description of the 4-waves interactions and optical Kerr effect
Main illustrations :
Phase conjugaison mirror
NL Fabry-Perot resonator – Optical bistability
Raman scattering
Self-focusing - Pulse propagation - Soliton
The working method consists in beginning with a short lecture part to introduce the
main and necessary principles, and to spend most of the time to detailled illustrations
and solving problems.
Teaching documents are written in english.
Anything is available on the pedagogic internet platform of the faculty.
