Section IV – Fire and Explosion Hazard Data
Explosion Limits (LEL): n.a.
UEL: n.a.
Extinguishing Media: Foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Incomplete combustion may form toxic materials such as carbon
dioxide, carbon monoxide, or various hydrocarbons.
Firefighting Procedures: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece operated in the
positive pressure demand mode and full protective gear.
Special Fire & Explosion Hazards: None known.
Section V – Health Hazard Information
Primary Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation, skin contact, and eye contact.
Effects of Acute Overexposure:
Eyes – May cause mild, temporary eye irritation.
Skin – Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause slight skin irritation.
Respiratory – Material is essentially non-volatile, and not expected to be a respiratory irritant unless
subjected to high heat.
High Performance Epoxy Resin MSDS, Page 2 of 2
Ingestion – Single dose oral toxicity is low, and unlikely to occur with normal handling. No hazards
anticipated from ingestion incidental to industrial exposure.
First Aid:
Eyes – Flush gently with water for at least 5 minutes. If symptoms persist or vision is impaired, seek
medical attention.
Skin – Wash affected skin areas with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Respiratory – Remove individual to fresh air.
Ingestion – Low toxicity. No special treatment necessary under normal conditions.
Section VI – Chemical Reactivity
Stability: Material is stable at normal temperatures, however excessive temperatures over long periods of
time will degrade the resin. Colder temperatures may cause some degree of crystallization which will
resolubilize with warming.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur by itself, but will occur when product is mixed with an aliphatic
amine, causing irreversible polymerization and considerably heat buildup.
Incompatibility: Bases.
Conditions to Avoid: Avoid extreme temperatures.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Incomplete combustion can produce carbon monoxide, carbon
dioxide, and potentially dangerous hydrocarbons.
Section VII – Spill Procedures
Small or Large Spills: Absorb spilled material with inert material. Transfer material to a suitable
container. Residues may be removed using steam or hot soapy water.
Waste Disposal Method: This material is not considered a hazardous waste under current federal
guidelines, and can generally be disposed by proper incineration. However state and local
regulations vary, and material should be treated in a manner consistent with all local, state, and
federal regulations.
Section VIII – Special Protection Information
Respiratory Protection: None required under normal operating conditions. If discomfort is noted, use an
NIOSH-approved vapor mask. Avoid breathing vapors of heated material.
Ventilation: Mechanical ventilation not usually required.
Gloves: Use chemical-resistant gloves if repeated or prolonged exposure is anticipated.
Eye Protection: Wear chemical-resistant goggles.
Other Protective Equipment: Wear appropriate work clothing to prevent skin contact. Wash before
reuse.
Section IX – Special Precautions
Handling and Storing: Keep material from long exposure to high temperatures.
Section X – Supplemental Information
