B – (Above Average) Speaker demonstrates a knowledge of the subject and presents a clear, coherent, logical speech. There may be little evidence of bias, and organization may be a little scattered. Voice level, eye contact, or pace may need some improvement. Speaker may have trouble with pronunciation or grammar occasionally. (Speaker could have some, but not all of these issues.) C – (Average) Speaker may have difficulty presenting the information with clear structure or may lack a coherent structure. He/she does not present a mastery of the subject and needs improvement on voice level, eye contact, or pace (possibly due to reading rather than speaking). Speaker consistently struggles with pronunciation or grammar. Time requirements may not be met. Interaction with the audience is minimal. Bias on the subject may be evident. D – (Below Average) Speaker is unable to clearly present the information, or it is lacking in validity, specific details, or organization. Speaker may not meet time requirements. Speaker seems unprepared because of vague or nonexistent factual support to information. There is consistent struggling with pronunciation or grammar. He/she does not present a mastery of the subject and needs significant improvement on voice level, eye contact, or pace (possibly due to reading rather than speaking). F – (Unacceptable) Speaker is unable to meet most of the requirements of the speech. Information is weak and unorganized. Lack of preparation is obvious in the speaker’s inability to maintain a logical pattern of information or to even present any information.
