Member, The Rotary Club of South Hall County
Katrina Relief 1
Fellow 6910 Rotarians,
Governor Dianne has asked me to Chair the disaster relief efforts for District 6910. In the less than 24 hours since I have
taken on this effort I have been extremely impressed with the response of Rotarians. People from all over the District are
reaching out. "Service above Self" is alive and well.
A disaster like this requires three levels of assistance: short, intermediate and long term (this applies to both financial and
physical. The short term efforts can be supported by making cash donations to disaster organizations like American Red
Cross, Salvation Army and Faith based organizations that are trained in immediate response. The intermediate and long
term offers an organization like Rotary the opportunity to take a more hands-on approach to providing service as well as
providing the much needed cash through Rotary channels.
If you or your club would like to support the Rotary efforts in the disaster stricken areas you should make your cash
donations to: Rotary International District 6200 Foundation, Inc.
Rotary District 6200
C/O Janice Bradshaw
PO Box 44365
Lafayette, LA 70504
Please note the donor as "Rotary Club of____ in District 6910".
The Disaster Relief Committee is working with the Disaster Relief Coordinators in the effected Rotary Districts to develop
opportunities for work team service and projects. While I know many Clubs are already well underway organizing work
teams to travel to the area, some of you may be looking for opportunities and we will work to provide them. With the many
refugees that have come to our area we have service opportunities nearby
There will also be opportunities for longer term projects to be done in coordination with Districts 6840 and 6200. We will
keep you posted on those opportunities as we learn what they may be. Currently Tim Baker of the Rockdale County Club
is working on Work Team opportunities and Assistant Governor Scott LeCraw is working on Opportunities to serve within
our district
There is so much being done within district 6910 to help – Thank You!!! Please let me know what your Club is doing or
has done. I would like to track what our district has done. Equally as important, I would like to share the ideas with all the
Clubs.
Thanks to all of you who have sent ideas and reports of your efforts to Governor Dianne and me. I apologize for having
responded to each of you individually, but will try to do better as we move forward.
Service above Self

Fellow Rotarians,
When confronted with a disaster, Rotarians rise to the occasion. Rotarians spontaneously organize and solve problems.
This is especially true of the Rotary Club of Canton.
The Rotary Club of Canton Board of Directors voted to approve the following recommendations for the Gulf Coast relief
efforts.
A check for $5,000 will be drawn from the Rotary Club of Canton Charitable Fund and donated to the American Red
Cross.
Please remember our local efforts in your donation plans. We encourage you to contribute to the relief efforts through the
charitable fund. Each member is asked to contribute a minimum of $100.00 beyond any previous donations they may
have already made.
The check should be made out to the Rotary Club of Canton Charitable Fund. The total amount collected will be donated
locally to non-profits that are participating in the disaster relief efforts. If you prefer, your donation can be billed to your
Rotary account and will appear on your next quarterly invoice.
Also, for the next three weeks please bring items needed for the relief efforts of our local service professionals to the
weekly Rotary meeting. These items will be collected and delivered to M.U.S.T. for distribution. Please ask Rotarian Kim
what specific items that are in need the most.
Yours in Rotary,
Bob Robinson
