Sharon McGowan – SSP Lead Shirley Styers – Admin Lead Maureen Sayer – Health Improvement Lead The strategic responsibilities of the Steering Group are: To ensure multi-professional and collaborative input at all times To ensure ongoing development as per the PDU Action Plan To ensure the PDU Action Plan details aims, objectives, milestones, and staff responsible and include strategies for staff development linked to the achievement of goals 2008 The operational responsibilities of the Steering Group are: Introduction In collaboration with Edge Hill University the Cheshire & Merseyside Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) continues to work towards accreditation as a Practice Development Unit (PDU). PDU embraces an “innovative approach to patient care which recognises the importance of an effective multi-disciplinary team and places high value on research based practice” (Edge Hill, 2000). Cheshire & Merseyside Team As the programme’s clinical activity continues to grow, so too does the staffing establishment. Administrator Debbie Tootle and specialist screening practitioner Nina Regnard are welcome additions to the team. PDU Steering Group A PDU Steering Group has been established with a primary aim of achieving PDU accreditation through the development and delivery of a PDU Action Plan. The group met on 1st August 2008 where members were confirmed as: Dr Richard Sturgess – Chair Marie Coughlin – PDU Facilitator Professor Tony Morris – Academic Lead Lynn Tobin – Nurse Lead To outline as part of the PDU Action Plan any changes and progress reports To provide solutions to problems encountered by the ‘Practice Development Unit’ To ensure the Programme’s further developments through the Action Plan To provide effective two-way communication between itself and the PDU Core Group PDU Core Group In addition to the Steering Group a PDU Core Group has been established. The aim of the Core Group is to take direction from the Steering Group through the planning and realisation of projects linked to the PDU Action Plan.
