Sandra L. Jacobson is a Wildlife Biologist and the Research and Management Liaison for the USDA Forest Service’s Pacific Southwest Research Station, Redwood Sciences Laboratory, Arcata, CA. She has a BA in Zoology and a MS in Natural Resources/Wildlife, both from Humboldt State University. Sandra has served as a wildlife biologist for the USDA Forest Service since 1980, managing such interesting species as grizzly bears and woodland caribou. Sandra specializes in transportation ecology (the interactions of wildlife and highways) and travels widely across the nation to provide technical expertise and training. She is a charter member of the Committee on Ecology and Transportation, and chair of the Committee’s Research Subcommittee, part of the Transportation Research Board (National Academy of Science). She is a team member for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program project called Evaluating the Use and Effectiveness of Wildlife Crossing Structures. Sandra served on the expert panel for the congressionally-mandated report on animal/vehicle collisions under the federal surface transportation bill (SAFETEALU). The Western Governors’ Association invited Sandra to be a task force member for their Initiative on Wildlife Movement and Crucial Habitat. She is a member of the UC Davis Road Ecology Center’s Scientific Advisory Committee and a planning team member for the International Conference on Ecology and Transportation. Sandra L.
