The 6 month training programme focuses on the primary care of children and is suitable for residents intending to go into general practice. Residents are eligible to enrol for the Diploma of Child Health. The 12 month training programme is available for Resident Medical Officers aspiring to a career in Paediatrics. Princess Margaret Hospital is the only tertiary paediatric teaching hospital in Western Australia and currently sees approximately 42 000 children a year in the Emergency Department with a wide casemix. Approximately 25% of patients seen are admitted to the Hospital. Resident Medical Officers will be expected to manage outpatients and inpatients under the supervision of registrars and specialists.
