Class 5 IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP NPS / Kilmannan Stud M&M In Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship (SM-MMIH) A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS member in the M&M In Hand section. The Sponsor’s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the Qualification Card. Only Class winners are eligible to compete for the Silver Medal. These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Full, Life or Standard member of the NPS A valid membership card must be in the rider’s/handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member or the owner’s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Any age. 2 Ridden Classes Judge: Mrs J Williams CLASS 7 Very Novice Ridden Pure-bred Connemara, stallion, mare or gelding 4 years old and over. Combination must not to have been placed 1st – 3rd in any ridden M&M classes. Snaffle bridles only. CLASS 8 The National Pony Society/Picton Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden Championship, Connemara stallion, mare or gelding 4 years old and over. To be judged under the rules of the NPS. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: i) Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class ii) Won a class at an Olympia, Horse of the Year Show or RIHS qualifying round iii) Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes iv) Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show (NB Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive year provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year) v) Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years vi) If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in its second year it is immediately denoviced and cannot compete in the Picton Final. Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit. CLASS 9 The National Pony Society/Peasedown Intermediate Ridden Native Pony Championship, Connemara stallion, mare or gelding 5years old or over. To be judged under the rules of the NPS. Open to pure bred registered M&M stallions, mares and geldings five years old or over A pony is not eligible to compete if it has qualified before 1st January in the current year for The M&M Ridden Championship final at Horse of the Year Show or Olympia CLASS 10 Open ridden pure-bred Connemara, stallion, mare or gelding 4 years old and over. This class is a qualifier for Irish Pony Society Western Area International Registered Connemara Performance Ridden Championship at Oughterard Show on 25/26th August 2012. Two ponies may qualify. (1) highest placed pony ridden by a member who is 16 or under on 1st January 2012 and (2) highest placed pony ridden by a member who is over 16. Qualification to go no lower than 3rd place. Only one pony will qualify if only one rider age group is represented. The highest placed pony, not already qualified, will qualify for the Rosmeen Ridden Championship at the BCPS Ridden Show on 21st July 2012. Qualification cards will be awarded in the ring and must be forwarded with the entry for the BCPS Ridden Show. Exhibitors must be members of the BCPS before they can enter the Final. Immediately after the show a 2’3” course of 5/6 jumps will be jumped. Marking as follows: Style on the flat 25 marks. Jumping style 25 marks, Overall impression 50 marks. Marks to be deducted a) jump knocked down -10. b) 1st refusal -10. 2nd refusal -20 c) 3rd refusal – elimination. If entered in Sections 1 & 2 competitors MAY NOT enter sections 3 & 4. CLASS 17a The Bowling Family Mountain & Moorland Novice Working Hunter Pony Championship Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years old or over. To be judged under the rules of the NPS. (see Note 2). It shall be deemed a condition of entry that the organisers, the landowner and his agents shall not be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants, horses and ponies, howsoever caused. 3. The organisers reserve the right to cancel the show, alter classes, judges or times or any of the published information. In the event of cancellation, entry fees will be refunded less £2.00 to cover administration costs. 4. The judges decision is final. A judge may require that a pony which constitutes a danger should leave the ring. 5. Handlers and riders of stallions and colts must have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January of the current year and wear a correctly secured British Standard skull cap/riding hat. Handlers of ponies in the In-Hand classes aged 14yrs and under must also wear a correctly secured British Standard skull cap/riding hat. Please ensure a lead of sufficient length is used for a stallion. 6. Mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete in ridden classes. All foals must be at least 3 weeks old on the day of the show and must accompany their dam into the ring. 7. An exhibitor may not knowingly exhibit a pony bred, sold, leased, produced, broken or trained by the judge and his/her immediate family or employer or by anyone with whom he/she resides. 8. A fall of pony or rider in any class will result in disqualification. The rider must not remount in the ring. 9. No change of rider/handler is allowed throughout a class without the judges permission. 10. No refund of entry fees will be made except on receipt of a vet’s or doctor’s certificate within 3 days of the event. 11. Ridden horses and ponies must be 4 years old and over. 12. Riders can be any age unless otherwise stated in the schedule. 13. Entries may be limited. Classes may be split or closed according to entries. 14. Any mounted rider must wear protective headgear to the current approved standard, BSEN 1384, PAS015 or ASTM F1163. 15. All pure bred ponies must be shown in their natural state. If unsure please obtain a copy of the BCPS Trimming Rules and the BCPS Showing Rules from the BCPS secretary, SAE. 16. In all classes whips must not exceed 30inches. 17. Complaints must be made in writing within an hour of the relevant class, submitted with a free of £20 (will be refunded if complaint upheld). SAE Please 9 Note 2: The first prizewinner from the class will go forward to the Final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, Malvern, in August. A pony may only qualify once. Where the first pony in the class has already qualified, the pony standing next in line which has not qualified will be deemed to be the qualifier. Qualification may go down no lower than third place. The class is open to stallions, mares and geldings which must be registered in the BCPS Studbook. Part bred ponies are not eligible. Mares with a living foal born in the current season are not eligible. At Breed Show qualifying rounds the owner need not be a member of the National Pony Society. Should such an Exhibitor and pony qualify the owner must become an adult/showing member of the National Pony Society and the pony entered in the competition final within fourteen days for the qualification to be valid. Entry to the final can only be guaranteed if the card is returned within 14 days with the entry fee. Note 3: The highest placed Yearling, Two year old, Three year old and the highest placed Broodmare with a foal at foot will qualify for the Tam-O-Shanter Championship, held at the BCPS Breed Show, at Warwick College, Moreton Morrell on Sunday 22nd July 2012 Entry forms can be downloaded from the website or by sending for them (enclosing a large SAE), from the Show Secretary.
