1. PURPOSE OF DOCUMENT
This document gives some useful information on the structure and development of the third
SUNRISE technical course.
It is based on the discussions both during the project meetings and during the internal sessions
and activities carried out by the Terrassa team. It aims to present the results and conclusions of
the Sunrise demonstration projects and feasibility study.
This version will circulate across the Consortium to inform on the main issues of the course.

WP2 – PROJECT METHODOLOGY AND OPERATIONAL ASPECTS
“Dossier de Candidature” to the Contract with the INTERREG 3 C Authority (AUG) and the
Technical Part of Starting Report (R0) on the overall SUNRISE work plan provide the main
guideline for the development of SUNRISE project and for the job to be performed at site level. In
particular the WP02 “Project methodology and operational aspects” is described in SUNRISE
technical report (R0) as:
“One of the core aims of SUNRISE project is to transfer the experiences and knowledge gained by
some partners, like ATAF and Ring a Link, in design, planning and operational aspects of DRT
services and systems. The expertise partners will training the other site responsible and
technicians (Terrassa, Massa (CAT), Serres (AUTh)) technical responsible to understand the
general needs of users (Authority and Transport Operators) in relation to DRT services
implementation, covering the mobility, institutional and operational aspects and the role of ICT
systems and tools.
To achieve this objective three main tasks are involved in WP02:
 Task 2.1: to define an “investigation methodology” for setting and design a DRT services
in relation to the characteristics of a specific area. The investigation methodology consists
of technical procedures to investigate an area about mobility demand, transport offer, etc
and to give indications on promotion activities in order to facilitate the knowledge in the
users’ community in case of operational starting of a DRT services. The investigation
methodology will be developed by ATAF, with the support of RAL, for what concern the
DRT services in rural area and UNEW for the interrelations with the evaluation
methodology. The methodology will allow to precisely define the site context approach for
the study and application of DRT services according to the main characteristics of local
sites (reference service model, institutional framework and constraints, operational
context, impacts and performances, etc).
 Task 2.2: to realize three interrelated tutorial courses in order to provide: capabilities on
DRT service planning; knowledge on the tools and supported ICT systems; analysis of
the achieved results. These three courses will be carried out in different local site and will
be targeted to specific audience identified in relation to the course objectives (mainly
technicians of Consortium local site). The first course will be taken care by CAT for what
concern the logistics organization (where, when, how, participants…) while ATAF will
provide the course contents and technical coordination.
 Task 2.3: to facilitate the personnel exchange. This task allows to realise operational
stages in the sites where a real DRT service is operated. The participating partners to this
experience should take care of the involved personnel facilities.”
The following structure of the course is in line with the objective of the WP2 and to the activities
foreseen in Task 2.3

2. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The Course on DRT Experiences is a relevant task of WP2 (Task 2.3). On the basis of the
information provided during the course the participants will be able to learn about real DRT
experiences and their conclusions.
The Course is addressed to the technicians such as engineers, local transport expertises of the
Sunrise partners and also decision makers (political authority).
The lessons will illustrate the real experience of the Sunrise partners in planning and management
of DRT services in the European regions involved.
3. STRUCTURE AND CONTENTS
The course consists of two sessions:
1. the first one (day one) will be divided in two different sections. The first one will be a brief
introduction to DRT systems and present experiences going on in Europe. The second
section will be based in the description of the experiences of some partners of Sunrise
project.
2. in the second day (day two) there will be the rest of the partners’ experiences and an open
debate about the lessons learnt, best results and future work at European and local level.
The table shows the lessons for the first day and the planning of the second one. The speakers are
just a first proposal.
