To the householder & business operator MARCH 2013 Dear resident/business operator, Re: Bells Line of Road temporary speed limit change – due to extreme hot weather Between Kurrajong Heights and Mount Tomah In January 2013 Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) reduced the speed limit on Bells Line of Road to 60km/h between Kurrajong Heights and Mount Tomah for safety reasons. The speed limit on the road has been temporary reduced as a result of recent extreme hot weather conditions softening the road’s surface. RMS maintenance crews have been monitoring the road’s surface and have carried out temporary repairs such as spreading sand and filling in potholes. This temporary repair work will continue for the duration of the hot weather until a longer term plan to restore the road surface is developed. RMS hopes to have this work completed by April 2013, after which time the posted speed limit will be reinstated back to 80km/h. Temporary speed limit signs have been installed to alert motorists to the conditions. Please follow the signs, including reduced speed limits and the directions of traffic controllers. Minor delays are expected due to the changed traffic conditions. Up to date information regarding these works, including any date changes, will be displayed on electronic message signs along the roadway. Motorists are advised to plan their journey and to allow extra travel time. RMS apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the patience of residents and motorists. For further information, please me on 02 8849 2409 during business hours (8am to 4pm), outside these hours please contact the Transport Management Centre on 131 700. Yours faithfully, David Blackmore Area Maintenance Manager Roads and Maritime Services
