Station Tour Guidelines

Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you very much for your interest in a station tour of the McLean Volunteer Fire Station at 1455
Laughlin Avenue, McLean, VA 22101-0291.
A station tour will generally last from 30 – 60 minutes and include:




Tour of the fire station
View fire and emergency medical services apparatus and equipment
Age-appropriate life safety skills education (If Available)
Demonstration of the special firefighting clothes (turnouts)
The McLean Volunteer Fire Station is an active fire station and on-call 24/7/365, ready to provide highquality fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the McLean community in partnership with the
Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. At times, the station can become noisy and potentially
dangerous.
To ensure the safety of you and your tour group, we ask that you review the following list of rules and
guidelines, and share them with your group. These safety instructions will be repeated at the start of your
tour.




Follow the instructions of your tour guide and associated MVFD personnel.
Their #1 priority is your safety.
Ensure there is adequate adult supervision
We request a ratio no greater than 3 children per adult.
The McLean Volunteer Fire Station remains on-call during tours, and may need to respond to
emergencies. While we work to prevent it from happening, it may become necessary for the tour to
end and your group to exit the station. Please keep this in mind when visiting.
Please do not bring any food or drink with you to the fire station.

inner workings of our fire station.
