Introductory Statement Lim Zheng Xuan was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2011 to 2014. Intellectual Independence and Passion For Learning Zheng Xuan is effectively bilingual in both English and Chinese. His proficiency in Chinese Language is evident from the distinction that he attained in the 2013 GCE Olevel Chinese Examination as well as the good results in the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test. He participated in the Chung Cheng High Debate Fest, where he presented his stand in a clear and convincing manner. Zheng Xuan possesses a keen interest in Mathematics and Sciences, which allowed him to score several distinctions in both subjects throughout the four years of education in the school. His proficiency in Mathematics allowed him to attain a distinction in the New South Wales Mathematics Competition. He was part of the school’s Science Talent Development Programme from 2011 to 2012, where he participated in various competitions such as the Science Congress organised by Republic Polytechnic in 2011, Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2012 and the 10th Singapore National Crystal Growing Competition organised by National University of Singapore in 2012. He represented the school in the National Science Challenge and the Singapore Physics Olympiad in 2013. Zheng Xuan has a positive attitude towards studies and he strives to maintain consistency in his good results in the school’s examinations. He has a thirst for knowledge and is enthusiastic about learning new things. He is willing to persevere despite set-backs and challenges. He takes pride in learning and values life long learning. Interpersonal Skills Zheng Xuan is able to strike a balance between his academics and his active involvement in Concert Band. This is evident from his achievements in Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), where his leadership skills were clearly displayed. He was able to communicate well with his juniors and peers to foster good relationships. As a senior, he motivated his juniors to strive for improvement and assisted them when they needed help. He was involved in various performances, including the school’s Arts Festival in 2012. In 2013, he participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation and achieved the Certificate of Accomplishment. In addition, he made conscious efforts to contribute to the community. Zheng Xuan participated actively in the school’s Community Involvement Programme (CIP), taking part in a project by Food From The Heart in 2013, where food packets were given to the less fortunate. His active involvement shows that he is someone who is willing to lend a helping hand to those who need it and understands the responsibility of being a member of the community. Personal Attributes Zheng Xuan is respectful and friendly towards his teachers and peers. He aims for perfection and readily accepts criticism and engages in reflection for self-improvement. He sets targets for himself and works towards his personal goals in a determined manner. He is responsible and effectively handles concurrent assignments. He follows strictly to deadlines and ensures high quality work being delivered. He puts others’ needs before his own and is always ready to lend a helping hand.
