School of Education, Social Work, & Counseling The Counselor Education Department at NNU was initiated in 1991 and has three CACREPaccredited programs: School, Marriage and Family, and Community Counseling. The Community Counseling program also includes a specialization area in pastoral counseling for applicants with the appropriate academic backgrounds. Description of Position Northwest Nazarene University Counselor Education Department has opened two positions due to faculty retirements. The department is seeking applications for one full-time person to begin in the spring or fall of 2007. This position will teach, provide leadership to the non-profit community counseling lab (called Families, ETC), be visible throughout the department, the community, and within the professional community. Essential Functions The position will teach core counseling courses and provide assistance/clinical leadership to the non-profit community counseling lab (called Families, ETC). Service and modest ongoing scholarly activity are expected. This position requires evidence of strong clinical experience and will be expected to teach at least one school course. Minimum Qualifications A doctorate in Counselor Education/Counseling, preferably from a CACREP doctoral program is preferred. A doctorate in Psychology or Education Psychology (with counseling affiliations and clinical or school counseling experience) or an ABD would also be considered for the position. All levels of rank will be considered. A minimum of two years of clinical experience or experience as a school counselor is required. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Idaho as an LCPC. The successful candidate should have a record of scholarship or a willingness to begin engaging in scholarly activity.
