Notes to applicants
Format of the event




You will be asked to make a presentation up to 5 minutes in length explaining your
Society/Club and how you would work with Ernst & Young should we sponsor you.
The presentation will take place at Ernst & Young’s Cambridge Office. The address is Compass
House, 80 Newmarket Road, Cambridge CB5 8DZ. Please report to reception on arrival.
The presentations will occur between 9:30am and 1pm on Friday 17th June 2011. You should
expect to arrive approximately 15 minutes before your allocated slot, and the presentation and
questions should last no longer than 20 minutes.
Presentations can take any format you like. Powerpoint may be used, as well as other visual
aids or handouts. Equally, your presentation can be informal. We appreciate that time is at a
premium in exam term, therefore please be assured that we are looking for what you may be
able to offer, and not your presentation style itself, when reaching a final decision.
The presentation will be to a panel of 3-5 members of the Campus Team, including recent
Cambridge University graduates.
Following your presentation, we may ask you questions regarding your proposal, your
Society/Club, and more generally about the activities they undertake. The questions should not
last more than 10 minutes.
What should your presentation cover?
We would normally ask sponsorship applicants to provide us with the following information on any
sponsorship proposals. We would therefore recommend that you cover the majority of the points
below. However, the exact format which you make your presentation in, and the exact information
covered is ultimately your choice.



How many members do you currently have? How many members are active? Do you expect
numbers to increase/decrease over the next few years?
What can you offer Ernst & Young in terms of physical branding? Will our logo appear on
clothing? Kits? Banners etc? Who will see this? How big will they be?
What can you offer Ernst & Young in terms of online branding? Do you have a Facebook page?
Will we appear in e-mail footers? Will we have the ability to send occasional e-mails around
your Society/Club list?
What events are you planning to hold in 2011-2012? How could Ernst & Young be involved in
these events to maximize our exposure? Equally, how can we assist (if appropriate) your
Society/Club with these events (eg, providing a speaker)?
What additional brand exposure, brand awareness and brand enhancement might Ernst &
Young benefit from (if any) that isn’t covered above?
Will Ernst & Young be your only sponsor? If not, who else sponsors you and how much do they
sponsor you?
How will you use the sponsorship money?
Post presentation questions


We would look to ask questions to find out further about what you have detailed in your
presentation, and to obtain clarification on any points that you are unable to cover, or haven’t
covered in your presentation.
The questions should last no more than 10 minutes.
What happens after the event?




We will aim to inform all Societies and Clubs who make a presentation of our decision by Friday
24th June 2011.
Ernst & Young has a limited sponsorship budget for the upcoming academic year, so it may not
be possible to agree sponsorship with all Societies and Clubs that make presentations.
Should you request some feedback on your presentation, we would be happy to provide you
written or oral feedback (to be determined by Ernst & Young) to assist you in future
sponsorship proposals.
Successful Societies and Clubs will receive further details regarding the sponsorship, and will
receive draft contracts in early July 2011.
Afternoon Drinks
Ernst & Young will be at The Plough Pub next to the River Cam between 4pm and 6pm on Friday 17th
afternoon for informal drinks. This will be a good opportunity to meet current graduates from the firm
while watching Bumps and enjoying some free drinks. Please feel free to come along, and look out for
people wearing Ernst & Young stash.
Any questions
Should you have any further questions regarding this, please contact
cambridgecampusteam@uk.ey.com.
Good luck with your application, and we look forward to meeting you on the 17th!
